You hire a dog walker, ask a friend or neighbour and look at all the pages from dog/animal welfare organisations about how to keep a dog healthy and stimulated when they cannot go out (applies to injured and convalescent dogs as well as those whose owners need to isolate).

Chin up - it's only a few days!!

PersonaNonGarter · 24/07/2021 07:05

Go out really early or later on.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 24/07/2021 07:08

yes, how early is early?
is it too late now?

Walk your dog Confused just cross the street/path or whatever if you have to go near anyone.

StormcloakNord · 24/07/2021 07:09

The chances of you passing on the virus, when you're testing negative, to someone at more than 2m away outdoors is slim to none.

Honestly just walk your dog & don't listen to people bleating that it's against the rulez.

SquashMinusIsShit · 24/07/2021 07:10

I'd go now but earlier next time.if it seems busy. I went out for an early run last weekend (about this time) and saw loads.loads of people but I think that's because it was so hot.

McCheney73 · 24/07/2021 07:25

Just take the dog out. Your outside the risk is very minimal.

If your worried go at quiet times.

Currently waiting for some results for my child who is typically fine. I've had negative lateral flow and no symptoms. I live in a first floor flat no private garden so my dog has to go out.

See this seems more risky than walking very early/late when no one is around
VanCleefArpels · 24/07/2021 07:30

I’m in this position - intend to go out early and walk on empty streets

Ughmaybenot · 24/07/2021 07:30

You walk your dog, keeping away from other people, going at quiet times etc.

ChinstrapBobblehat · 24/07/2021 07:31

Just walk your dog! My sister’s negative but isolating and she takes her dog out very early (before 7 am) and late (after 8 pm). She wears a mask and avoids the few people who might be about (semi rural). Honestly can’t see what harm could possibly be caused.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 24/07/2021 07:32

i agree, until it concerned me!

Thisyearcandoone · 24/07/2021 07:40

Walk the dog! Just keep your distance :)

HummingBeeBox · 24/07/2021 07:46

Agreed, walk the dog very early and very late. Although be careful if you are in a position of responsibility in society as a friend is a doctors receptionist and was spotted and is now terrified as she is worried she'll lose her job. Her manager is speaking with her today.

crossstitchingnana · 24/07/2021 07:47

I had to do this and stayed in. Friends walked her and managed to get a dog walker to do most of it. Couple of days of garden play and training etc.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 24/07/2021 07:48

oh no,
i dont think people know where i work exactly

OP posts:
AbsolutelyPatsy · 24/07/2021 07:49

problem is that early morning dog walking is quite popular!

Jenasaurus · 24/07/2021 07:50

Yes, walk the dog, wear a mask and keep away from other dog walkers or people out and about. :)

Go late evening then? Or go even earlier at 6am, I can't imagine there would be many people out that early
HummingBeeBox · 24/07/2021 08:43

Yes by early morning I think pre 6 and as late as you feel safe

Flyingsatsuma · 24/07/2021 13:49

I would also walk the dog very early/late and keep away from other people whilst doing it.

Hamnetssister · 24/07/2021 13:50

We are in a household where we are all positive and we just haven’t walked them. We’ve done games with them in the garden. I don’t feel safe going out, but I do have Covid so it’s a bit different.

Hoppinggreen · 24/07/2021 13:52

We have just come out of Quarantine, dog was walked twice a day in the woods at the back of our house. We only saw people in the distance and if they were approaching it was easy to go in the opposite direction

FudgeFlake · 24/07/2021 13:56

Most areas still have covid isolation and shielding support groups, I'm certainly still willing and available for dog walking via ours. I've got safe handover of dogs for walkies down to a fine art now!

Getawaywithit · 24/07/2021 14:28

My son is walking our dog at about 10pm and is crossing the road if he sees anyone coming towards him. He is also staying away from the main road.
