Vaccination for 17 year olds

Zorinindustries · 23/07/2021 17:55

I heard that those who are 3 months away from thier 18th birthday can now get a vaccination.
But DD has tried to book on the nhs website and it says she is not eligible.

And the walk in centres say they are only for over 18s too.
Has anyone managed to get a jab for an almost 18 year old?

CDC actually refutes everything Berenson says.

They refute his narrative, but the data has never been.

He's a famous Covid denier. Now he's an anti-vaxxer spreading lies and scaring people.
He's a despicable piece of shit.

But a quick AS shows that since the pandemic began you've been sharing links to dodgy blogs and even dodgier conspiracy theorists so hardly surprising you're one of his fans too.

He's a famous Covid denier. Now he's an anti-vaxxer spreading lies and scaring people. He's a despicable piece of shit.
He’s actually been right on quite a few things. Mostly on the uselessness of masks and lockdowns. The absurdity over school closures in ‘blue states’ and the shamelessness of the teachers unions.

But he’s been wrong on some things too (like pretty much everyone). He occasionally misinterprets data but he never actually misrepresents it.

Whether he’s right when it comes to the waning effectiveness of the vaccines remains to be seen (I really hope he’s wrong here tbh)

Geamhradh · 24/07/2021 11:16

Masks worn incorrectly, masks made out of an old t-shirt and the prevalence of people not wearing masks (UK for example) sure. Useless.
Where I am, only a certain type of mask has been allowed, and there have been no exemptions.

It's how the variables are analysed.

It may be discovered, by reputable bodies, that the vaccine causes more harm than Covid. But a blogger won't be the person who does it.

Katekarate · 24/07/2021 11:24

The issues from vaccine -v- from covid argument also depends on the number of cases circulating. With the Delta variant and so many cases it's almost guaranteed that teens in school or Uni with no ventilation/masks/other measures will catch it, so that impacts on the argument

HalzTangz · 24/07/2021 12:25

But she's 18 in 3 Weeks so could still get the 1st Jan well before she starts uni

NotDonna · 24/07/2021 22:03

@Mindymomo

Dr on tv said that they’ve not had any information through yet to get the teenagers 3 months under 18 through yet and as soon as they do they will be contacting people. There are many walk in sites near me, the biggest at Sandown Park Racecourse is open every day and even Thorpe Park (only one day) are doing walk ins, still only for over 18’s, but a good idea to get those in for jabs whilst they are there.
Sandown are doing under 18’s as walk-ins every day if they’re within the 3 months as per my previous posting earlier.
NotDonna · 24/07/2021 22:12

Apologies, it was one of the other threads about vaccines for almost 18’s where I’d highlighted Sandown Racecourse.

At our Pfizer clinic briefing yesterday we were told if a walkin looks young to check their DoB and if less than 3 months to 18 we can vaccinate so I'm assuming it is OK if they turn up at a walk in centre.

Zorinindustries · 25/07/2021 08:55

Thanks londonmummy1966 thats useful to know.
I might run her to our local one today and see, even though it says over 18s only.

I'd like to get at least her 1st before going to uni. She will be living at home, but will obviously still be mixing with all sorts of new people from all over the place.

It just let me book for my kiddo who is 18 on 5th Aug

SupermanWithTheGreyHair · 26/07/2021 13:19

Has the GP got your daughters phone number? Won’t they text her directly due to her age? My son is 18 soon, I’m presuming they’ll contact him directly by text and that it up to him to book as he’s classed as an adult?

Zorinindustries · 26/07/2021 13:25

Just tried it again. Still says she is not elegiable.

We didn't manage a to get to a walk in yesterday, so I guess we will wait till we hear from the gp.

Our local walk in will do anyone over 16, so worth a try.

MyTwoBengals · 26/07/2021 15:36

I have found an official letter from NHS England to all GP and other bodies dated 22nd July 2021, instructing them to vaccinate young people within 3 months of their 18th birthday

NotNowFGS · 26/07/2021 17:36

Just taken my soon to be 18 year old to a walk-in and she got it no bother. Everyone was so lovely. I took her passport just in case and they did ask for ID.

123rd · 26/07/2021 17:38

My dc ( and quite a few mates) all yr 12 have gone to the local walk in centre last week
Must remind them to book the next jab
