If you’ve had myocarditis/pericarditis + the vaccine

Have you been OK? As this is one of the recognised side effects (albeit very rare) I was wondering whether anyone who has suffered previously from myocarditis/pericarditis had any issues with taking Pfizer/moderna?

I have had two terrible episodes (a few years ago now) of pericarditis and it was very traumatic and gave me bad health anxiety for a long time after.

I’ve been putting off having my jab since I’ve been called (can’t have AZ due to my age) as I’m worried about this side effect and whether I’m at a higher risk as I’ve had it before.

Ultimately I want to be protected but have my concerns.

Exploring the relationship between all-cause and cardiac-related mortality following COVID-19 vaccination or infection in Florida residents: a self-controlled case series study

As on the other thread you've added this too, thank you.

This report (though not of the highest quality of research) points out that cardiac issues following Covid infection remain significantly higher than those following the mRNA vaccines

It does point out (as everyone knows by now) that there is some increase in cardiac issues in young males (rarely resulting in severe incidents) following the vaccine- though of course that incidence remains higher in the general young male population (naturally occurring cardiac issues) than in other demographics.

Final 2 paragraphs also very relevant:
"Confounding by age may be present in the 60 years or older age group, which may explain the slight
elevated risk for cardiac-related deaths following vaccination. This may also explain the increased risk
for the entire vaccination analysis group for cardiac-related deaths since this group comprises the vast
majority of deaths. ^Removing those aged 60 years or older yielded non-significant results for cardiac-
related deaths following vaccination^
(RI = 1.15, 95% CI = 0.99 - 1.34), mRNA vaccination (RI = 1.17, 95%
CI = 1.00 - 1.37), and males with mRNA vaccination (RI = 1.09, 95% CI = 0.89 - 1.34).
Lastly, this analysis was conducted during the first months the vaccines were available. Both COVID-19
mortality due to infection or risk of mortality associated with vaccination have likely changed over time

In the fall of 2022, most people have either been vaccinated or have natural immunity to COVID-19.
Many have had multiple vaccine doses, multiple infections or both. Research to assess the current risks
and benefits of the COVID-19 vaccine to help update vaccine recommendations should be studied in this context. "

I had pericarditis/myocarditis about 10 years ago. It recurred when I had covid the first time and I was quite ill with it. I no cardio affects from either AZ first jab or Pfizer second jab although the headache from AZ was dreadful and lasted for weeks so stopped me getting a second for a long time and then going for the Pfizer. Due for another now and not sure what I will get. It is a worry but the risk from having the jab is much lower than the risk of cardio issues from covid itself.
