so now school bubbles don't exist, we don't have to isolate for a positive case?

Utterly confused. A child in my DC's class has tested positive on a PCR. The school sent an email telling us this, and stating that the school is not required to take any further action, and NHS will carry out the test and trace. They've asked us to keep our kids off school, but said that they cannot insist that they are kept off school, just advise.

So now is the postiive Y4 child being asked - can you remember who you were near on Monday, in order for test and trace to work? And if she doesn't give my DC's name, nothing happens?

Surely they would use the seat plans to determine contacts within 2 metres or whatever and perhaps best friends then any inside play/close contacts? I guess outside play wouldn't count maybe

MildredPuppy · 22/07/2021 17:21

I think so. The guidance said test and trace will work with the individuals to ifentify close contacts and gavr an example of a sleep over.

There are 6 positive cases in one class at my sons school. The guidance said something about test and trace contacting schools for assitance if they felt it was necessary but so far no one in the class has been contacted by test and trace to isolate and they broke up now.

But NHS test & trace don't have that information...

Our head has said that basically if anyone tests positive now he asks that we politely let him know but it's nothing to do with him, or PHE. Test and trace will contact positive person and it is his understanding that 'classmates' do not count as close contact. I would assume siblings and perhaps friends over for playdates might.

Is it bonkers, but my6 yo has had 3 periods of SI in quick succession. I think number 4 right now would break me.

I don't get why they've simultaneously closed the school to the kids but we are also being told they don't need to isolate.

I am a bit confused. They havent closed your school just said please keep you kids of school

@MildredPuppy

I am a bit confused. They havent closed your school just said please keep you kids of school
because being a close contact of a classmate in most circumstances apparently no longer 'counts'. Some schools are still sending kids home but I don't think self isolation is enforceable any more. (not that it was anyway)
