Indoor Party

CescaCesca · 22/07/2021 14:29

I have a BBQ this weekend which has now turned into an indoor "party" (inside someone's house) because of predicted rain. I think there is around 15-20 people including children. I'm double vaxxed but only a week since I had 2nd jab. Would you go considering the daily stats atm? Or give it a miss this time?

Half of me is really just exhausted from everything and I think stuff it I'm just going to live my life as best I can now, and the other half of me thinks I've come this far without catching it... Staying at home for a bit longer won't make much of a difference?

Thoughts?

Well my opinion is clouded by the fact I’m on day 8 of recovery from Covid now and still feeling like utter Garage - I wouldn’t go. I’m double jabbed too, have been since April. My healthy strong 17yr old son is 1 day ahead of me and isn’t much better. It’s not always a mild inconvenience

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 22/07/2021 14:59

Not with that many, not worth the risk for some food.

Cosybelles · 22/07/2021 15:00

For me, it would depend on who was going and how comfortable I felt with their attitudes and behaviours.

HelloMissus · 22/07/2021 15:03

Yes, I’m going to a party tomorrow night.
The first in 16 months.
It’s going to be joyous!

CescaCesca · 22/07/2021 16:21

@darbs76 sorry to hear you're poorly, I hope you feel better soon 💐

I think I will end up giving it a miss then!

I wouldn't go personally.

EasterIssland · 22/07/2021 16:24

For me it’s a risk. But I’m in a town with a lot of cases. If the local cases is low then maybe I’d consider it

Wanttocry · 22/07/2021 16:41

I would definitely go.
But what others would do isn’t really important, it sounds like you maybe wouldn’t enjoy it anyway, because you’d be worried?

Lottie4 · 22/07/2021 17:03

It wouldn't be right for me. My 19 year old DD and friends have lived well within restrictions throughout, but right at this moment I'm sure they wouldn't go either (they're not willing to meet up with a uni friend who's been partying) - they're conscious numbers are going up and really want their second vaccines.

SpnBaby1967 · 22/07/2021 17:10

Got a party tomorrow, 55 guests, cannot bloody wait!

SpnBaby1967 · 22/07/2021 17:10

*Saturday even. I keep thinking today is friday 🤦🏻‍♀️

wasthataburp · 22/07/2021 17:11

Just go. Will you never attend parties ever again? Really?

GintyMcGinty · 22/07/2021 17:15

I'm going to a wedding with 200 people this weekend.

Ca

ineedaholidaynow · 22/07/2021 17:15

Hopefully rates won’t be so high at some point. I am still wary of indoor parties, especially as most of my friends have children and a few of them work in schools, where cases are going crazy at the moment

SonnetForSpring · 22/07/2021 17:20

My 23 year old nephew has been unwell for 2 weeks...still can't go back to work. So covid isnt always just a mild cold.

Katie517 · 22/07/2021 17:21

If you don’t go now I really don’t know when you will? What are you waiting for you have had vaccines there will always be cases especially when we continue to test more than the rest of Europe combined. If we are going to live with the virus we have to do just that! We would never have avoided parties in the past for other illnesses that would give us mild symptoms, it wouldn’t have even crossed our minds. I have a christening this weekend and a baby shower and first birthday party next weekend I’m excited to celebrate my friends life events again.

ineedaholidaynow · 22/07/2021 17:34

The rates in our area are the highest they have ever been throughout this pandemic. We got off lightly early on.

Notonthestairs · 22/07/2021 17:38

I think it depends on the rates in your area and whether you've got other things planned for next week and don't fancy being ill or having to isolate for them.

I'd also hold fire as storms etc difficult to pin point and you might find that the weather is fine!

Frazzled2207 · 22/07/2021 17:50

no. I'm going to an outdoor one, but would not risk an indoor party atm. That's just me though, people's risk assessments differ!

I'm more worried about being told to self isolate that actually getting the virus atm.

PurpleDaisies · 22/07/2021 17:53

I wouldn’t but cases around here are sky high at the moment.

PurpleDaisies · 22/07/2021 17:53

I'm more worried about being told to self isolate that actually getting the virus atm.

Same!

whatswithtodaytoday · 22/07/2021 17:53

As you're not fully vaccinated yet I would definitely give it a miss.

Those saying if not now when - how about when everyone is fully vaccinated? When cases are lower? When we know what effect opening everything up will have? When we've seen what happens in other countries? We're still at a stage of the pandemic when things change very quickly, most of the world is not vaccinated and realistically, it's going to go on for a while longer yet. Sticking your fingers in your ears and singing la la la is not helpful.

Indigopearl · 22/07/2021 17:54

I would wait until 2 weeks after your 2nd vaccine as immunity is pretty low until then. Not much longer to wait....

HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 22/07/2021 17:58

I would go and enjoy myself.

IsabellesMissingSock · 22/07/2021 18:03

At this point I would say no. Prior last weekend I would been up for it and in fact I was. Went to a small gathering of 5, mostly outside, rest in a well ventilated room (big patio door open and a decent amount of time spent on patio). Now isolating due to covid, as two of the others. I was 3 days post-second jab when I went. One more is awaiting PCR result and the final one has taken a home test and was negative. Not looking forward to the next 8 days....
