School bubbles and isolating - wwyd?

Hi received the dreaded email today to say that my child's bubble had burst at school. I was told that my child had to isolate until next Thursday. Bang goes our trip away but oh well. Then I get a second email saying that the advice has changed. Ds will not have to isolate but just miss his last day at school unless track and trace get in touch. That seems unlikely so now I don't know what to do about our trip. What would you still go? It seems mad that he was in a hot classroom with a positive case for a whole day but can carry on as normal. Wouldn't it be selfish to potentially infect people in the holiday park where we're staying? Legally we can just carry on as normal but it doesn't sit right. Is this just a scheme of the government to stop lots of families cancelling holidays due to burst bubbles? So confused!

I’ve also got a trip next week and a child still in school. I’d follow the later email as it suits me better. I’ve had enough of all this (despite being totally compliant so far).

I'd go. We are going away on Friday and tomorrow is DS's last day at school, I won't be following any isolation requests should it happen.

ineedaholidaynow · 21/07/2021 18:35

@Waxonwaxoff0 even if T&T get in touch? What about if it is a close friend? I assume you would isolate if DS is positive?

How would T&T know if he's home or not?

I'd absolutely isolate if he was positive, yes.

ineedaholidaynow · 21/07/2021 18:57

I suppose anyone could say that about T&T @Waxonwaxoff0. I assume that is why they impose fines if they find out people aren't isolating

The second bit of advice is correct. Go on holiday unless you are contacted by track and trace!

Absolutely this!!! I would only not go on holiday if we had a positive result in the household. Have a great time

A child was sent into our school with a covid positive brother. Now 6 families so far are positive 4 days later I've zero respect for people bot isolating as they should

Thank you for the replies. The Jury is still out here - think we're gonna keep an eye/ear out over the next couple of days for any more positive cases from the bubble or any symptoms in ds. We have a very vulnerable relative so I think we're naturally cautious about anything covid related!

I would still go!

We've only had two broken bubbles in our primary, but both have gone onto have other positive cases.

Personally I feel it's right to isolate, but if you decide to go, it's worth bearing in mind your DS can have a PCR as a contact, so this could be done the day before leaving in case there are early signs. If negative, then you could a LFT on your DS every morning until Thursday (this is what our primary school have asked parents to do if their children are in a broken bubble)?
