Children testing to enter France

Sorry I’m more of a reader in the group rather than a poster so hope you don’t mind me asking. Does anyone know if children over 12 need a negative test to enter France. DH and I don’t as double jabbed but I can’t work out if DS covered under our vaccination status or not! The gov site totally contradicts itself!

Anybody know first hand?
Thank you

Just out of curiosity (we've postponed our camping trip for another year Sad); if you're at a french campsite, or in the middle of nowhere, how do you book the year 72hrs before departure? Do you order a postal one before you leave and take all the stuff with you?

I think you can but according to the owners of our Gites, all french pharmacies do antigen tests for €29.

@InvincibleInvisibility So everyone travelling from England by Eurostar needs a test even if travelling to France and double jabbed?

EasterIssland · 20/07/2021 23:09

Don’t think you can present the pharmacy ones for coming back to the uk ones

I thought the pharmacy ones were ok. Where did you see this?
EasterIssland · 21/07/2021 16:10

For going into the Uk I mean. As you need a certificate that they won’t provide. If it’s for when in France to enter to places I assume it’s ok

@EasterIssland

The pharmacy ones are fine. They can usually give you the printed result within about 30 mins and they will also send the result to your phone.

to enter the uk?

I am confused about exactly the same thing - we are travelling to France with a 12 and 14 year old. On the uk government website it would appear they don't need to be tested if travelling with fully vaccinated adults. The easyJet website implies everyone over 12 who hasn't been vaccinated does need a test within 24hrs of travel. I emailed the french consulate and got a surprisingly quick reply saying unvaccinated children under the age of 18 are okay to travel without a test as long as travelling with a vaccinated adult. It still makes me nervous as all the information out there is so ambiguous 🤦‍♀️

coco80 · 21/07/2021 21:52

I also saw the eurotunnel travel advice yesterday about 12-18 yr olds travelling with a fully vaccinated adult not needing a test but that information is not there today. I'm guessing the uk gov website is the most official and reliable??

myotherusernameistaken · 22/07/2021 09:29

@EasterIssland - yes, to enter the UK

There is a very helpful FB group called "travel between UK and France" where you can find all the relevant links to documents/governement advice and see posts from people who have actually done the journey in recent days.

Last year we found the British embassy in Paris had the best advice clear and current - we changed our plans while we were away. Had an amazing trip 2020 but uk this year which am struggling with but don’t miss the agonising we had last year about ever changing rules!

SoOvethis · 22/07/2021 18:44

Just to make clear that 12 year olds and above will need a test within 24 hours (antigen probably easiest) even if travelling with vaccinated parents.

coco80 · 22/07/2021 20:16

Looks like the french have updated their government website and minors, I'm assuming those under 18 definitely do not need a test to enter France. www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en/coming-to-france/coronavirus-advice-for-foreign-nationals-in-france/
