Wow that’s high! Mine’s about the same as the national average.

What makes it so high in your area? Older population? Small Scottish island with sense of community?? Great local health team?

CeeJay81 · 19/07/2021 10:44

First dose 90.4 second 76.0
Powys.

NotMyCat · 19/07/2021 10:46

1st dose 74.1%
2nd dose 60.2%

NotMyCat · 19/07/2021 10:47

And a rate of 424 per 10,000 with 45 hospital admissions in 7 days. Excellent(!)

Older population I think. We generally have the longest or second longest life expectancy in Scotland.

@StraightOutside where abouts is that? I thought our numbers were quite good. Also older population here.

Angel2702 · 19/07/2021 10:52

Not enough

Only 67.5 first doses
48.9 second

86% first, 71.8% second. South Warwickshire.

Dementedswan · 19/07/2021 10:53

89% first and 74.3 second

Dementedswan · 19/07/2021 10:55

32 in hospital and 1 death in last 7 days. We have a rate of 889.3 North East.

Pinchoftums · 19/07/2021 10:56

Mine is lower than national average
Poorer educated area than national average
Less older people than national average
High number of people from different ethnicities
Interesting how much better Scotland is doing. Definitely think having better faith in the government must help. Even those Scots I know who dislike Sturgeon don't think she is as much as a fuckwit as our dick head of a prime minister.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 19/07/2021 10:57

84% for the first vaccine

Wakeupin2022 · 19/07/2021 11:00

England / Scotland calculate percentages differently so not actually comparable.

But Scotland will have a very high vaccine uptake Smile

Wankerchief · 19/07/2021 11:00

68.8 first
45.9 second
Reading, low uptake rates here.

ifonly4 · 19/07/2021 11:06

Not sure, where we fit in. In our borough 89.6% first 72.7% second.

However, everyone in our area uses the hospital, buses, main town for neighbouring borough, where we were all sent for our vaccines. There it's 84.4% first and 53.3% second.

30degreesandmeltinghere · 19/07/2021 11:08

75%double vaccinated here...

BiBabbles · 19/07/2021 11:09

75.8% 1st dose, 62.1% 2nd dose, so below average.

Our COVID rate is nearly 300 per 100,000 which it says it just below but nearly average there.

We've a pretty high young population, and I know of people in my area where they were waiting for invites from the GP, but the GP surgery had 'lost' or otherwise doesn't have their mobile phone numbers (or the person doesn't have one) and haven't made much efforts beyond that - my spouse was one of these, they had no mobile listed for him so even though he was the highest risk in the household, they made no effort to contact him when he became eligible, he called them once I was getting invites and it was just 'oh, we don't have a mobile for you to send it' as if there is no other way to get in touch with someone. There have been others who've talked about it too.

I found that concerning and I suspect it might be why there has been a local campaign over the last few months for people to check their eligibility themselves. I know the public health team are working hard, but we both don't have enough GPs (as many areas don't) and many of them seem to be using pretty naff computer systems to handle this.

lljkk · 19/07/2021 11:10

I'm surprised it's this low, 89% first dose, 74% 2nd dose. As of 16 July '21.

At one point (?March) we had the highest vacc take up in England, our MP tweeted about it. For people over 70 I know it's as good as 100% for first dose. Barely anyone in hospitals for covid reasons.

Lico · 19/07/2021 11:11

% of total population or % of eligible to be vaccinated (adults)?

Many countries quote % of total population and NOT % of adults. This might lead to misunderstanding.

So far UK is circa 53.4% TOTAL population.
Herd immunity comes (I may be wrong) with circa 80-90 % of TOTAL population.

UK about 67 million inhabitants? UK is over half vaccinated

ArnoldJudasRimmer · 19/07/2021 11:18

Just under 90% for first dose and a little under 80% have had 2 doses. Cases are also skyrocketing.

Just to be clear, this isn't about whose area or nation is doing best. I don't think that we're any more civic minded or superior to areas with lower vaccination rates. Or inferior to those with higher rates. I'm just curious.

There are so many factors involved and us having an older population, some wealthy, educated areas and likely also being a very "white" county make it simpler for us than others.

London borough:
42% two doses
60% one dose
400 cases/100k

KittenKong · 19/07/2021 11:21

55% and 30%. I suppose that’s because we have loads of students and people from overseas here. And flipping people in hotels.

cheapskatemum · 19/07/2021 11:22

1st dose: 90.8%
2nd dose 77.2%
