Starting a 10 day isolation as a contact when you tested positive 13 days ago

Would you?

Timeline is:

Positive test received for mild symptoms
Isolates for next 10 days as requested by T&T, complies and follows the rules.
Back to school on day 11.
Day 12 - identified as a close contact, asked to isolate for next 9 days.

Would you enforce this on your child? How likely are they to recatch covid on day 11 since original infection?

No way. They had Covid and isolated, they’re not going to catch it again less than a fortnight later!

Angel2702 · 17/07/2021 20:36

Or a chance I would do that

HumpHumpWhale · 17/07/2021 20:37

Nope, that's absurd.

Dghgcotcitc · 17/07/2021 20:41

All countries using “previous positive” as an equivalent to vaccination for entry say positive within six months so yes at 13 days you are fine! Isolation a nonsense in these circumstances

Lemons1571 · 17/07/2021 20:46

That’s what I think too. School say them a the rules Confused Does the actual law say anything about this I wonder?

Legally she does have to isolate but it is fucking stupid and I'm someone who thinks the isolation rules are generally too lax.

rainbowunicorn · 17/07/2021 21:39

No, not a hope in hell I would do that.

Lemons1571 · 18/07/2021 06:55

Thank you. I don't understand why the policy is not adapted for recently immune people - this reisolation for no scientific reason must be happening a lot. Aren’t we supposed to be following the science?

Maybe the gov think everyone will rush out and aim to catch it, to get their 3 months of guaranteed immunity.

I think there is guidance on this government guidance on this OP . She doesn’t have to

GiantToadstool · 18/07/2021 07:31

When I had covid I was told by t and t that I wouldnt need to isolate if a family member then got it - and for them.not to put me down as a close contact. I cant remember the time frame but it was definitely months not days!

GiantToadstool · 18/07/2021 07:33

Even if school won't let you back (have they shut the class?) I definitely wouldnt further isolate- go out and about etc. If anyone ever did hallenge you its clear hes had covid and just say schools shut.

@PlumpCushion

I think there is guidance on this government guidance on this OP . She doesn’t have to
Is there? I've not seen this

Legally at the moment I don't think there is any get out for people with natural immunity which is ridiculous.
