Should contacts of positive LFT person isolate?

Obviously understand that PCR positive = isolation for close contacts.

But what if you are notified of someone testing positive LFT? they are getting a PCR and school have notified me to isolate my child until the PCR results come back.

Is this the case? We only have a garden day planned tomorrow so dont have plans we need to cancel etc; but if it stays hot we would have walked down to the river for a paddle (obvs wont if LFT positive = officially isolate)?

Just got me thinking really.

Oh and they had a teacher test positive LFT on Monday (different class) but the PCR came back negative, so I'm hopeful this will be the case today too.

You don’t have to isolate as a contact of a positive LFT officially, only if/once the PCR comes back positive. That said, it’d be a good idea to be cautious about contacts while they’re awaiting the PCR result, particularly if visiting busy places or anyone who might be vulnerable.

The school act on behalf of t&t so the instruction to isolate is legally binding until the results of the pcr come back. However if the river spot is itself isolated and you wouldn't meet anyone on the way there, I'd be happy to risk breaking the law and take my kids.

Yes you need to isolate.

We dont have any plans to mix with anyone anyways, luckily, so in that way we dont need to worry

It was more the legal standpoint.
