This the highest number positive cases since January (according BBC News). I know it's anticipated to reach 100,000 peak in August but this rate of increase feels like it is happening even faster than predicted, and honestly, my gut is saying it's not worth my dd going into school next week.
We are NOT going on holiday, so this would not be to reduce risk of a holiday being spoilt. But my kids 14yr & 17yr (one has health problems) and it just doesn't seem worth the risk to me. Many really terrible stories about long covid in children - not just adults - and 17/18 - you are an adult really.
I just wondered if anyone else felt the same.
I know a lot of folk will think I am over reacting. DH and I have been double vaccinated. But hearing the high numbers ALREADY only mid July, and the opening up just days away, I honestly wish schools could be closed now, just a few days early, as it feels little to gain/less for kids to lose education wise than they have already - relatively.
Furthermore, according to dd, the school has a whole year group isolating (not hers obviously)& only know this as she told me - so I don't think we getting full info from school about nos positive in school - anyone else sense that with their child's school?
