Do they know when I had it and will they turn me away? Does it have to be 8 weeks?

If you need a second jab and had Pfizer and are desperate it's worth turning up towards the end of the opening hours of a walk in centre and wait to see if they have any leftover doses they need to use up. Did this with my friend last week and it worked out for her and for many other desperate people waiting with us. One said she had been turned away by eight centres and finally got the jab that evening Absolutely no one will jab you if your first vaccine is four weeks ago or less. But if you're five, six or seven I'd give it a try if you have the energy.

Not unless they have leftover vaccines at the end of the day.
They are trying to ensure that as many people as possible have had their first and everyone gets their second on time. If there’s a good reason for getting it early maybe give the number a call and see what they see.

Yes you can, but not universally, hence all the 'no' s' on this thread. Here's how :

LOTS of DD's peers 18 plus are doing this, and the London Borough vax volunteer group I work for has just sent an email saying at specific centres within our area the criteria can now be reduced to 6 weeks.
FWIW my DD had her 2nd at 3 weeks.
Best of luck.

You are being arsy. I can't see anyone else being so. Bizarre.

( Hmm )

No one else has been arsey with you, only helpful.

As PP have said, it'll need to be 8 weeks but check on the booking portal.

Our local centres are dead and will do it if you have a valid reason to need it brought forward e.g. travel but only if your first jab was Pfizer.

Forestdweller11 · 17/07/2021 06:57

Our local walk-ins are doing 2nd jabs for basically anyone who wants one, think you have to have a two week gap.

LakeShoreD · 17/07/2021 07:01

I had my second after weeks, DH after 6. The walk in centre I went to was happy to do >3 weeks if Pfizer. But this isn’t in any way universal and tends to change day by day so I’d do your research first and not just pitch up to any old walk in centre as you risk being turned away. PP has already posted this and I’d second their recommendation: www.reddit.com/r/GetJabbed/
If you’re in/around London it should be very easy to find somewhere. Good luck!

JC12345 · 17/07/2021 07:01

Our local one were doing anybody provided you had a gap of more than 4 weeks.

minatrina · 17/07/2021 07:12

Every centre is different so you'd have to find out from them directly. At my local one you certainly could, they seem to have excess doses they're keen to use.

Persipan · 17/07/2021 07:22

I was reading an article just the other day about vaccination centres having loads of problems with people turning up wanting to get their second jab earlier than 8 weeks - sometimes literally the same people turning up day after day and expecting the answer to be different. With that in mind, I'd say don't be one of those people; it just makes things more difficult for the staff.

BikeRunSki · 17/07/2021 07:25

No, a friends of ours was turned away at 7 weeks and 6 days!

Atalune · 17/07/2021 07:34

I was turned away at 7 weeks.
