School bubbles

So my DCs class bubble burst & the kids have been told to isolate from today.
But bubbles are being scrapped from Monday aren't they?!
Is it me, or is that ridiculous?

@usernotfound0000

It is a pointless change. Our school sent a letter saying bubbles can end on Monday 19th but government are encouraging them to be kept in place until 16th August, which makes sense because as others have said, in the case of nursery & primary it would be impossible to identify close contacts as they all mix as a year group. I have a child off at the moment, we haven't gone anywhere indoors but I have taken her to quiet places for walks/scooter rides etc, no way am I locking her up for 10 days because 1 person out of 60 tested positive.
I think if we all test negative we will do the same.

Are you in Bucks, OP? If so, I think I know which school. Such a nuisance!

I’m so confused. I ready don’t understand "what is changing from the 19th or the 16th aug?
So if a child in my sons class was positive on Tuesday 20th (they are still in) would my son have to isolate?"

The definition of close contacts of children in school changes on Monday. From what I have seen unless the child socialises with another one a lot outside of school, they won't count as close contacts.

Government guidance to schools:
From 16 August 2021, children under the age of 18 years old will no longer be required to
self-isolate if they are contacted by NHS Test and Trace as a close contact of a positive
COVID-19 case.

My son’s year 1 bubble burst after school on Wednesday, so gutted because he hasn’t had any proper end of school fun and now even the trip substitutes are off. But yes he’s isolating - no ice skating or swimming lessons, two play dates cancelled. But, that’s our first burst bubble so we did pretty well! Just sucks it’s this week - year 6 have burst too so no end of primary fun!!

No. Not in bucks. I think it's in a LOT of schools right now.

This was one of the teachers! It's not like they are hugging them is it?!

you clearly don't live anywhere near me. Round here from what i can tell about 60% of children are currently self isolating.

Your dc's teacher has Covid? Doesn't that worry you at all?

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 16/07/2021 16:40

My DD is only 7 and not sure how old your DC is but they certainly do hug the kids in her school. If they're upset they get a cuddle, if they're excited then the kids are really tactile both with each other and with the teachers and TAs.

Mistressiggi · 16/07/2021 16:53

The teacher will have spoke to every child in the class. I'd be a lot more worried about catching it from someone who had actually spoken to me than from someone in the class who sat across the room and wasn't really a friend.

Mistressiggi · 16/07/2021 17:31

spoken

It's SO silly to have 2 different dates for bubbles and isolation rules. I know most schools break up today or earlier but some are going on well into next week and it will ruin so many more people's first part of the holidays if someone tests positive and gas mingled freely with the whole school rather than just their bubble. It will result in a lot more end of term events being cancelled too.

blameitonthecaffeine · 16/07/2021 17:34

has mingled, not gas!

"530,126 people were told by NHS Test and Trace that they had to isolate last week.

Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak won’t because they believe the rules all of us follow should not apply to them.

This government is a sleazy, duplicitous joke"
