If you have had Covid after being double jabbed…

Did you also have Covid before being jabbed?

Just very interested in knowing this as everyone i now know who has had covid post being double jabbed don’t think they had covid before. So it seems it is mainly affecting those who never caught it in the first and second wave.

I know so many people who had covid last year and none of them (majority of course jabbed now) have caught Covid a second time.

It depends on whether they had antibodies from the first infection. I've done an antibody test via Zoe app but not expecting to have them from first infection (March 20) as they are generally expected to last up to 6 months in most people

SoOvethis · 15/07/2021 09:22

Just to add that I had high antibody levels 15 months post infection with no vaccine. So they do definitely last in some people! I think this magic 6 month number is speculation still.

DH has tested positive three times - once before any jabs, once after one jab, and once after two jabs. He thinks the middle one may have been a false positive and maybe a contaminated swab? He didn't have any symptoms that time. First time and third time he did have symptoms. We all had it when he had the third bout (and I'd had one jab at this point) but not sure if we had it the first time - it was early on when they weren't testing much and we had some mild/atypical symptoms which I think we might be over interpreting in retrospect. None of the rest of us had symptoms the second time but all swabbed positive the third time.

Not sure if that answers your question?! But now you have my entire family Covid history.

Interesting thread, read about (and know some) people who have tested positive after 2 vaccines, seemingly quite common and some have been very unwell but as yet I have only heard of 3 people who have had Covid, had two vaccines (AZ) and then also got Covid again. They have all been less severely ill but still ill! I hope that if you have had Covid and two vaccines you should be mildly ill the next time but who knows, this thing seems to change all the time! Those 3 people I know of are on a long covid group, not my personal friends but seems accurate as I can't see why they would make it up and they have updated regularly re symptoms etc and as I say appear to be ill but nowhere near as bad as the first time.

My friend did. Barely even knew she had alpha but delta hit her like a ton of bricks despite the vaccine.

I suppose something else to throw into the mix is these T cells that are talked about. I'm not in the medical field but my limited understanding is that they play an important role, therefore not having COVID antibodies remaining from infection is not the only immune mechanism that needs to be taken into account. Hope I still have antibodies or T cells against covid as I strongly suspect I had it last year then over a year of long covid. Would be nice to get something out of it!!

I had Covid in December 2019, totally convinced as I have it again now.
Had AZ vaccine in Spring.
This time around I don't have the continuous cough but do have all the other symptoms and feel lousy.

I just find it interesting that everyone I know or have heard of who has caught it recently didn’t have Covid before. It’s almost like the virus is set on infecting those who have never been infected (even though double jabbed)
Makes me wonder if almost everyone will just eventually getting it regardless of vaccination status.

DH and I are double jabbed and currently have Covid. Neither of us have knowingly had it before, unless we were asymptomatic

TiddleTaddleTat · 15/07/2021 19:39

It's just some people have naturally acquired immunity from previous infection in addition to from vaccination.
Vaccination is also nowhere near 100% effective and reduces transmission but doesn't eliminate it.

One of my colleagues had it last year (confirmed), is double jabbed and has it again now. She's really quite unwell. Early 40s.

Is there anyone who's had 2 jobs that hasn't got Covid? Doesn't seem many left.

*jabs
