Am I being thick? Don’t answer that. Travelling to Disneyland Paris

I posted a while ago about my Disney obsessed dd who has autism.

We are booked to go in a couple of months for her birthday.

From what I can see. France is on the UK amber list and we are on the French amber list.

I am double jabbed. Dd is 14. She hasn’t been jabbed (obvs) but has had COVID so I am not worried about her testing positive again.

Am I reading it correctly. I can go as long as I have proof that I have been double jabbed (I have). But we both need to still show a PCR test? In which case I will need to get that booked.

I think I am reading that correctly however she has been reading it too and I have been hounded for the last three hours. She is so excited.

There was a thread the other say about France saying you either had to be doubled jabbed or PCR negative proof within 24hrs of going in to any social / hospitality / retail etc - so for teenagers you'd need to pay for them to be done daily if you were on holiday??! Hopefully someone else will know more.

Gameofbones · 14/07/2021 22:12

Thank you! Hopeful bump!

I go back and forth quite a bit. How are you travelling?

Thank you! Eurostar

Depends on when you are coming over. From the 1st August 2021 you and your 14 year old will need to be vaccinated in order to do anything fun like Disney, restaurants, shopping etc - proof of vaccination will be required.

GiantToadstool · 14/07/2021 22:52

What will you do if either of you test positive while over there?

FudgeFlake · 14/07/2021 22:53

Since the rules for England, UK, France and EU all seem to change about every 35 seconds, all I can suggest is keep checking.

Are they vaccinating children in France
ihearttc · 14/07/2021 23:15

Yes they are apparently.

toots111 · 15/07/2021 03:49

Also France are one of the countries that are not accepting the Indian made vaccine as a valid vaccine so if you are one of the 5 million people who have had that (google for batch numbers) they won’t count you as vaccinated.

NannyAndJohn · 15/07/2021 05:17

There's talk about France going onto the Red List.

Seesawmummadaw · 15/07/2021 05:21

‘ but has had COVID so I am not worried about her testing positive again’

Why?

InvincibleInvisibility · 15/07/2021 05:57

At the very least you both need a negative pcr test before being allowed to travel on the eurostar (both directions - check their website)

WhiskeryWoman · 15/07/2021 06:08

@NannyAndJohn😂😂😂😂 source please?

Lemonmelonsun · 15/07/2021 06:12

Op it's an absolute nightmare... I hope you and your dd have a wonderful holiday, I guess you do have the disability stuff for Disney? The lanyards etc which may also get you some kindness on the way there if there are any issues and over zealous official..

MmeCamenbert · 15/07/2021 06:15

Yes, France are vaccinating children from 12-17yrs old now, from the 30th August everyone over the age of 12 will need to be double jabbed in order to go to any cultural or public social event (restaurants, cinemas, theme parks, museums etc...)
If you are they are not jabbed you will need to pay for a negative test ( 48hrs i think) before you will be allowed to do any of these things. Tests are currently about 50€ each. I've got my 12yr old booked in for 26th July!

WhiskeryWoman · 15/07/2021 06:20

@Gameofbonesif you are on Facebook there’s a brilliant group called travel between U.K. and France. It actually seems to contain useful and factual info (unlike the fear mongery guff that has been posted here). There’s no point booking tests yet, as someone pointed out rules change. We plan to take a holiday in France in a few weeks and haven’t booked the ferry, let alone the tests yet. Currently it’s a PCR OR antigen (antigen being much cheaper) taken pre-departure to France. You could make sure you have your proof of vaccination status ready - the NHS app and you can request a paper copy via the website. Hopefully it goes without saying but make sure you take out travel insurance before you book which will cover for the usual stuff AND covid related stuff. Oh and if you don’t have already get yourself and DD a GHIC (it’s the post Brexit name for the EHIC which was the E111). You can do that free via the U.K. gov website. It’ll cover you for minor medical treatment, some types of hospital stay etc. Have a blooming marvellous trip!!

Gastropod · 15/07/2021 06:40

France has temporarily (till end of August) lifted the requirement for 12-17 year olds to show proof of vaccination or negative test before entering restaurants, cultural events, etc. It is still mandatory for adults, though, so you will need to show your proof of vaccination.

Your 14 year old will need to show a negative PCR to enter the country, but that is all they are requiring at the moment.

You can check on this site which is pretty helpful for entry requirements: Reopen EU - you just select travel plan, rest of world and then the country you are travelling to. It's kept up to date.

FredaFox · 15/07/2021 07:20

Your daughter could get covid again (obviously I hope she doesn't but it can happen)

GiantToadstool · 15/07/2021 07:26

Yup either of you could get covid while over there. Quite possibly mildly or asymptomatically but the thought of testing positive and then not being able to travel back or go into disney from then is what scares me (more than being ill really as also double jabbed). Isolating in a hotel room and having to pay for an extra 10 days (if thats even how theydo it?!)

To be honest that is what has put me off the most (and wanting to wait until the disney castle/parades/fireworks are back).

ParisNext · 15/07/2021 09:45

The Eurostar website summaries all the travel requirements and they (and Eurotunnel) are always spot on. Go to their page and really look at the info as it is correct. I do this and Eurostar regularly and it’s never failed me. Don’t get pulled into the hype or so snd so said this as I’ve not had any problems in the last year by using their websites.
