DD desperately wants her second before she starts new job. Had first about 5 weeks ago but I know others are very keen. I’m looking for a Pfizer jab in Kent.
I know there is a Reddit forum but nothing on there for Kent that I can see and it’s huge. Frankly I trust mumsnet more.

I’ve waited for 8 weeks, get my 2nd on Friday. 33, in a job where I have come into work almost every day of the pandemic, albeit not around strangers, but around plenty of colleagues.

I’d just wait it out if I her were here. Unless the job involves a lot of close contact with randoms.

Your best hope may be "pop-up" type one day clinics - even the big walk in places, at least in my part of SW are saying "you are welcome to walk in if 8 weeks has passed"

SW london that is.

Latest research seems to suggest she would get lower immunity, that's why they are keeping the 8 week gap. Is she sure that's best for her rather than being careful for a few weeks extra?

gogohm · 14/07/2021 15:07

An announcement was made that it needs to be a minimum of 8 weeks to maximise immune response.

ItsVousNotMoi · 14/07/2021 15:10

She's hardly vulnerable though? If she's working, and young? Just wait, why does she need to Have It Now?

LemonTT · 14/07/2021 15:29

The Reddit sub was full of options a few weeks ago. Then people posted details of where you could get one. But they weren’t the only ones reading it.

As a result green book rules have been reissued and those sites are being told to stick to the green book.

Posting details on social media of places that bend the rules is a a sure fire way to put an end to that option.

Generally speaking end of the day pop ups are the best bet because they have to use up all the vaccine taken off site. It cannot be stored. So they have a rationale (avoid waste) to offer it out if people don’t turn up.

England is the only country giving Pfizer 8 weeks apart though- everywhere else is 3-6. In the long run, it may turn out that a longer gap is better although so far for Pfizer, that's based on a small published study in the over 80s.

OP have you tried a Twitter search? Perhaps just looking for 'Pfizer Kent' might bring up something?

Our local NHS hubs are posting on Facebook when they have spare vaccine for people under 8 weeks from first jab. Usually have to get there ASAP tho

Also heard Moss Side were offering it a couple of weeks ago

Carriemac · 14/07/2021 18:07

Any hubs offering moderna in the Midlands ?

lovescats3 · 14/07/2021 18:08

It's not recommended before 8 weeks by JCVI because it produces a lower immune response- source BBC news website
