Shouldn’t she have gone home ?

A member of staff found out that her teenager had symptoms and was going for a test.
My manager told her to wear a mask and work to the end of the day.
Surely she should have gone home to isolate ?

Agreed, if a member of your household has symptoms then the household is supposed to isolate until/unless the person has a negative PCR test.

We have a couple of school leavers working with us for the summer, so they’re not vaccinated as under 18, and it’s just not right. I feel sorry for them as they looked concerned.

Of course she should have gone home. And everyone else should have refused to continue working with her.

Meh. I think it’s unrealistic to expect people to do that now when they wouldn’t be expected to do it in a few weeks time, for no really good reason.

DinosaurDiana · 14/07/2021 06:52

I didn’t know about it until the end of the day when the manager left. It’s only when she left that people were talking about it.

this happened to me, I got sent home.

Imnothereforthedrama · 14/07/2021 07:38

Yes but I can see why some aren’t doing that now.

Katya213 · 14/07/2021 07:41

People aren't taking it seriously anymore. DS school have basically told us if it's possible to stop doing lfts as we are seeking problems. Allowed to send kids in with cough, temp now. Attitudes have really changed.

Dozycuntlaters · 14/07/2021 08:20

The trouble is there are so many symptoms now that could be down to covid but could also be down to many other things. We can't just keep going home and isolating every time someone coughs or whatever. The isolation rules are changing soon thank goodness.

I knocked over an old woman yesterday with my car. Meh, she was probably going to die in a couple of weeks anyway.

I know there are some settings that are already not sending home close contacts, instead opting for testing (e.g. trial areas, NHS).

As this is your workplace, I'd assume you would have known this already if it had been a company policy.

The rules regarding isolation are still in place, so yes, she should have gone home.

But they haven’t changed yet.

There are plenty of us, me included, who’ve only had one jab. Makes me twitchy to be honest and pissed off at those that forget that.

It doesn't work like that in many work Aves though.

I mean where I work we are on our own alot of the time. There's no way we'd just be able to go straight home.

Realistically How's it meant to work. Who's gonna cover staff breaks? Do the banking? Attend meetings etc if staff members just leave.

Its hardly the staffs fault if the company are short staffed.

In a nursery or care setting you'd have legal ratio issues etc
