What happens when the bubbles stop?

Does anyone know what will happen once bubbles are done away with? We got a letter from school saying that they end on Monday but that the government want them to keep them enforced until the 16th August, which makes no sense. I'm not really worried about school but concerned about nursery for DD2 over the next few weeks. How will it be dealt with if there is a positive case? All I can see online seems to refer to secondary school.

Contacts still have to isolate until 16th so if a child or staff member tests positive all their close contacts must self isolate which is effectively their bubble. However they could scrap bubbles on Monday and mix freely which could potential close down an entire nursery.

This is what I don't understand. In a nursery situation surely they can't guarantee that children in the same room haven't mixed so they would be a close contact? The school letter mentioned only having to isolate if you test positive but is that the next phase on the 16th August?

Some nurseries have bubbles eg at dd’s they have 2 groups on the same day, they don’t mix so if one tests positive only half the kids/staff isolate.
Bubbles end on 19th so any number of people can mix freely but it’s ridiculous because close contacts still have to isolate until 16th. It’s only after 16th you only have to isolate if you test positive yourself.
So I can see why a nursery will want to keep the bubbles going till 16th when one case wouldn’t close the whole place potentially.

I think I need to have a chat with ours and see what they are planning to do, it does seem sensible to keep them in place until August.

At school we have been asked to keep them in place to help protect family holidays - if we let them all mix we risk lots more families if a child has to isolate
