Another period after vaccine one!

Had my first dose Pfizer in feb and came on 2 weeks late.
Had my second dose in mid may and came on 2 weeks early (lasted for normal amount of time etc)

Now on cycle day 45 and officially a week late, I'm not pregnant and there seems to be no reason that I wouldn't have come on! Question is has anyone had the same irregularities going forward. I'm panicking about it now!!!

Hesitate to write this ... I had AZ #1 about 4 months ago and still haven’t had my period...

Yes I’ve reported it to Dr & via the Yellow Card.

Dr thinks if I wait longer it should come back. So that’s good then. Confused

I’d rather have the jabs than Covid, but I’m mid forties so slightly young to be menopausal but what can I do about it?

UndercoverToad · 12/07/2021 15:28

@littlejalapeno the fact that credible science is investigating a link between Covid itself and fertility - and due to the risk in pregnancy - this would lead me to be more concerned about Covid and fertility - than the vaccine and fertility.

UndercoverToad · 12/07/2021 15:31

@MoreGravy

David Gorski, a surgical oncologist and scientist known for exposing pseudoscience,[39] described Weinstein as a prominent "COVID-19 contrarian and spreader of disinformation"

UndercoverToad · 12/07/2021 15:35

In short, encouraged by Weinstein, right-wing hate-mongers were successful in their effort to shutter an anti-racist event, all under the banner of defending "free speech."

UndercoverToad · 12/07/2021 15:38

But in March, he publicly questioned the value of an Evergreen event where white students were encouraged to leave campus, spurring protesters to label him a bigot and racist.

I don’t think I want to put faith in his ‘science’ @MoreGravy

littlejalapeno · 12/07/2021 16:00

@UndercoverToad the important thing is that they’ve gone from saying there is no impact to saying there is potentially an impact and they are studying it.

That Sky new article you linked read like they were about to blame women being hesitant about the vaccine as the reason to delay “freedom day”. That’s the kind of article that makes me worry tbh, even though I am pro vaccine. Also murdochs Sky as a scientific citation? Surely he’s just as bad as the other corrupt guy you are arguing against

UndercoverToad · 12/07/2021 16:25

@littlejalapeno

But from Covid itself rather than the vaccine? So if you suffer severe symptoms from Covid then a potential risk in later pregnancy and the risk factors posed in the studies.

No credible science has found a link between fertility and the vaccine.

Sky is a mainstream media outlet nonetheless - and it’s not Murdock being quoted in the article, it’s credible scientists who aren’t controversial racists.

littlejalapeno · 12/07/2021 16:43

It seems everybody has an angle, but where are the people taking seriously the women who have had period changes after the vaccine?

The Zoe app says they’re not statistically relevant but then also admit they’ve not put a mechanism in place to collect that data. I would encourage any woman who sees a change in her period after having Covid or the vaccine to report it, to Zoe or yellow card, else there’s no data to build a hypothesis and it will keep being dismissed. Just like how they were dismissing any link at all between fertility issues after covid 10 months ago.

And just to say, I am pro vaccine and had Covid last year, without any change to my period. But I believe women when they say they’re having these side effects and the side effects need to be documented not dismissed.

UndercoverToad · 12/07/2021 16:52

@littlejalapeno I totally agree with you there. Women should absolutely be told if their period may be affected by any vaccine and exactly why. No way was I trying to imply that reports should be dismissed.

BUT - what really concerns me is conspiracy theorists and quackademics jumping on this concern and using it to spread misinformation. This is harmful. It’s why the video posted previously makes me angry. Why on Earth are women prepared to accept the views of 3 men - one of which has a very controversial background - over credible, peer researched studies/the views of professors??

UndercoverToad · 12/07/2021 16:55

I’m pleased to see Mumsnet has deleted the video.

littlejalapeno · 12/07/2021 17:04

Yeah I agree that there are a lot of antivax narratives scaring people unnecessarily, and those men are idiots and clearly only care about their own publicity. But there aren’t really any studies specifically on post vaccine fertility yet- hence the proposal you linked to earlier. I think for women in their late 30s/40s who want to conceive sooner rather than later, there’s some cost benefit analysis to do and I really believe that we should have as much information to make informed decisions about our health. And honestly the more I hear of people having period problems the more concerned I am personally. If I was done having kids I probably wouldn’t be so concerned. Hopefully there will be some results and credible studies published soon that will put all our minds at ease

I was late after second AZ jab - I’m never ever late!

Since then back to clockwork but they’re a lot heavier than they were

LittleRen · 12/07/2021 20:24

@SomebodysMum interesting as my cycle was normally closer to 31-33 days… this month it’s been 28 days.

KatySun · 12/07/2021 20:43

Yep, I had a lot of flooding in my first period after Pfizer. And now I have a period after 24 days when my cycle is usually a regular 29. I have never had a 24 day cycle. I have a FitBit tracker and my heart rate usually increases in the second half of my cycle and it has barely moved. So not normal for me either.

Od130990 · 12/07/2021 21:16

I had covid back in April 2020 and my periods went missing for 4 and a half months. Finally got them back on track, has my 1st Pfizer jab while on my period on 20th May stopped bleeding that day & haven't had another period since 😖 my doctors keep texting me to book my next jab but I'm having serious doubts about getting it! I think covid & its vaccine can mess up our reproductive system. If it was a mans bits getting messed up I'm sure they'd be well reported by now. Women's health isn't taken as seriously.

UndercoverToad · 12/07/2021 21:48

@Od130990 - there are studies into men’s bits too…

Od130990 · 12/07/2021 21:56

@UndercoverToad
Yeah I assumed there would be
Can't have the poor souls suffering
If we find out at some point down the line it affects men's libido or erections I bet all men will be told not to take the vaccine, however there's plenty of women stating it's affecting our cycles but apparently it's all in our head, or a coincidence and we should definitely get the vaccine.

ParkingFeud · 12/07/2021 21:58

I'm so worried about this and I just don't have enough faith in women's health research to believe them saying it's safe. If the vaccine is giving people missed periods then that is affecting fertility in my eyes. I really don't know what to do. First jab is booked for Thursday and I don't want to go. I don't want heavy, painful periods either. Frankly I'd rather take the covid risk. Having worked in a shop with no social distancing for 6 months throughout and had no symptoms I've probably had it and not known... stress of it and society's expectations are making me feel sick.

PandemicPalava · 12/07/2021 22:03

The AZ affected my cycles after both jabs. Early and very heavy and clot filled. I reported on the yellow card scheme.

If it helps my periods after weren't any heavier or more painful than normal. One was just 2 weeks late and my second 2 weeks early (and now gone walkabouts!)

I'm 52 and hadn't had a period for quite a few months, usual menopausal symptoms. The evening after the AZ jab I had a lot of low down pelvic pain, then 2wks of sore breasts, headaches and my period returned. I've had two periods since. Just had second vaccine and again PMT symptoms and pelvic pain. No menopausal symptoms anymore. GP of course just says it's a coincidence, I have yellow carded it.

GinQueen1844 · 12/07/2021 23:00

I have had irregular bleeding (breakthrough bleeding almost everyday) since having Pfizer early June however it's hard to judge for me because I had my first baby mid March and went back onto the pill in May so could be either

BrightonMama · 13/07/2021 09:10

After the second dose of Moderna my period came two weeks early and was unusually heavy. I'm normally like clockwork so it was a real surprise, but put it down to the perimenopause starting. Since reading everyone else's experience I'm now wondering if it was the vaccine.
