Is this a normal Covid symptom?

I have a positive Covid test, 2 jabs so I'm sure I'll be fine but this afternoon I've been feeling incredibly tearful and panicky.
It's not like me at all. Is this a Covid thing? Related to fever and pressure in the chest maybe? Also have pain and deep pressure and irregular heart beat on left side so I don't know if it's all connected, I keep bursting into tears for no reason and I'm not the crying type. BlushBlush

Could it not just be anxiety?

Nuuktown · 11/07/2021 20:00

^^ I hope that didn’t come across as dismissive!!

Goshitstricky · 11/07/2021 20:07

Well quite possibly but I'm not generally anxious, especially not to the point of physical symptoms.

My son and I and a close friend had exactly the same didn’t feel particularly anxious but very tearful. Hope that you feel better soon OP and be kind to yourself.

Deliaskis · 11/07/2021 20:16

I've not had covid as far as I'm aware but those are classic anxiety symptoms for me.

bobisbored · 11/07/2021 20:34

I think I had Covid right at the very beginning before we could get tested. I had a terrible feeling of impending doom and felt very anxious. I hope you feel better soon.

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 11/07/2021 20:38

Ps we were tearful before we even knew we had covid so it wasn’t anxiety.

Goshitstricky · 11/07/2021 20:52

Well I'm glad it's not just me. I'll stay in bed and keep hydrated. I'm so glad I've had my vaccines if this is the 'milder' version of the virus.

I wasn't aware of the tearfulness, but certainly irregular heartbeat, COVID did affect my heart slightly and the irregular beat didn't wear off until well after I was better.
I am absolutely fine now, so please don't worry about it, especially if you've been vaccinated (I wasn't at the time but I am now, of course).

WarriorN · 11/07/2021 20:56

I've had emotional symptoms with other viruses so it's certainly possible.

Lots of fluids, painkillers, and try to watch rubbish for keep yourself distracted. Get well soon Thanks

FflosFfantastig · 11/07/2021 21:03

I had this too OP but not in the beginning, it came a week or two in for me. Feeling very emotional. At the start I felt very restless and couldn't settle to anything. I hope it passes soon, it's not very nice.

SoOvethis · 11/07/2021 21:12

Yes I had this before knowing I had covid as I had it last spring 2020 before lockdown. One of my first symptoms was constant sneezing, runny nose and feeling anxious and panicky. I remember reading back in the beginning that there were a lot of people who felt like a sense of doom in the early days of infection.

Realitea · 12/07/2021 07:17

My ds felt like you op, it was the feeling that something wasn’t right emotionally which prompted him to do a test and it was positive. (Lateral flow first then pcr) he didn’t have any other symptoms

changingstages · 12/07/2021 07:20

Have you got a fever? I've definitely had this when I have been ill with a high temp and I did have it when I think I had Covid last March (and my temp was very high).

RedRec · 12/07/2021 07:30

I was exactly the same, OP. I had Covid last October / November and despite not being a cryer I cried at everything. Anything set me off. And I couldn't stop talking to anyone who would listen about this previously 'unknown' symptom. For me it was cathartic crying though. It felt good. It lasted for about two weeks although other symptoms went on longer (I still have strange taste and smell issues now).

Carrott21 · 12/07/2021 07:35

It's a symptom on the Zoe app.

Gastropod · 12/07/2021 07:38

Yes, I remember being on some of the early "long hauler" Covid threads last year, and this was flagged as being a symptom back then. I certainly felt it when I had (suspected) Covid at the time.

MRex · 12/07/2021 08:49

Have you had any injury or illness that could have caused sepsis? A feeling of impending doom and heart issues are linked with sepsis, it's worth checking in with 111 just in case.

Sanguinesuzy · 12/07/2021 09:31

Yes. HR up to 150 just standing up and walking to bathroom. Lasted a good few weeks although not as high. Also exacerbated 3 months later by vaccine and now on b blockers. Pressure in chest very common. Literally felt my lungs were squeezed into a box and couldn't inflate. Plenty fluids, rest, check sats, try to keep calm. Hope you are feeling better soon, chances are you will !
