He’s on immunosuppressant medication. He shielded for nearly 15 months only just got back to some ‘normal’ activities and still being pretty cautious.
Had two AZ jabs. How worried should we be?

My mother in law (77 with blood cancer) caught covid BEFORE her jabs last year. We were really worried about her catching it and she was shielded for 6 months but she basically had flu symptoms for a week and was fine!

It’s scary but the vast majority of people make a full recovery!

My mum just tested positive. Double jabbed and living in a care home. She is CEV too.

It’s really hard to know, as everyone responds so differently. Although he’s CEV he may still sail through it, it just means he’s more at risk of serious illness than someone without his health condition. I’ve seen many accounts of people who are CEV being fine. Hopefully he has some protection from the AZ jabs too. Do you have an oximetre to measure his oxygen levels? If not it may be worth ordering one. Try and make sure he gets lots of fluids and rest. Keep a close eye on him and be sure to seek medical attention if you have any concerns at all. I hope he stays well and makes a speedy recovery.

My dad (67) has got a prostate cancer that spread to his liver, lungs and bones. He is also diabetic and has got heart problems. He caught covid whilst in hospital receiving chemo. At that time when he got infected he wasn’t vaccinated at all.
He has been struggling for a week with covid but didn’t need to go to hospital.
Hope your dad feels better soon x

There are lots of positive stories about, but it use be a very worrying time.

Make sure his regular consultant knows - if s/he doesn't already know, have him ring in first thing tomorrow.

And if he appears to be struggling at all get help - he might be a candidate for early treatment with dextramethasone or monoclonal antibodies
