DS1 (Year 2) has just been told he is a close contact of someone at school who has tested positive with a lateral flow, awaiting the confirmatory PCR. Isolation is until next Sunday evening. I'm gutted he is going to miss his last full week of school but there's nothing I can do.

He was due to go to a birthday party this afternoon, and the child's mom has called everyone this morning to say that if we all did a lateral flow test and it was negative, then she's happy to continue with the party if we are happy to go.

Now I've said no, despite him having no symptoms (yet!) and already having had COVID earlier on in the year. He's disappointed but again, not much I can can do. Several parents have contacted me though, saying that they are going to do the test and take their children along. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Would you take your child, at this point in the pandemic? I'm curious to see how many people would feel that they would be willing to take the risk?

I would probably not go but find an especial treat for my child instead.

No, if he has been told to isolate by the school it’s a legal requirement.

I’d certainly be rethinking play dates etc with those who break the rules.

I would be pretty annoyed with the parent organising the party and not go

Yes, I'll be getting him a special treat to have instead.

It's just such a shame that they're missing out on so much, when there'll be crowds of people out in the pubs tonight Sad
