France - single dose if you’ve had covid

Here in France the policy is that if you’ve had Covid in the past (proved by PCR test) you only need one shot of vaccine to be fully vaccinated.

Is this being done in any other country? Would Covid + 1 shot = fully vaccinated be accepted for travel where you live?

The research to back this up looks promising (mostly done in the US) but as far as I’m aware the policy has not been widely adopted. I asked on here a while ago about this and was just wondering if other countries are considering this, and how they’d react in terms of travel for “fully vaccinated” people.

The Netherlands do it. But I think I will get a second shot anyway because of travel restrictions.

Germany does it as well.
Covid + 1 jab exactly 6 months later = fully vaccinated.

@CuteOrangeElephant

Can you choose to do that? In France we don’t get the choice. If you fess up to having had Covid (even if it was 10 months ago) you get one jab, second rdv cancelled and that’s it. As far as I know.

The Janssen vaccine is a single dose - perhaps it's that one they're using?

@Sarahlou63

No it’s for Pfizer and Moderna. Pfizer has distanced themselves from this as far as I know, said it’s not within the scope of the original data to comment.

Considering people who've had Covid and 2 doses of a vaccine are getting Covid again and recent data shows boosters will definitely be necessary, I wouldn't be very trusting of this policy.

@Peachi82

I think France is not even doing that, they are applying it if you’re had Covid at any point in the past - not just the “optimal” period of 6 months.

Italy uses the same rule, but only if the Covid infection is in the last 6months, otherwise it gives 2 doses
