@leafyygreens The amount of harassment and abuse NHS staff are subjected to has been steadily growing over the last couple of decades and hasn't got nearly enough attention.

I think it's always got attention - I remember as an older child being surprised in A&E by the announcements about security protecting staff from abuse, the big cut-out of a police officer etc. Didn't make a lot of sense to me at the time (why people would be abusive) and still doesn't now. So is it really attention that's needed?

Pfizer advises 3 week gap, and with Moderna it's 28 days.

The aggressive people who are attacking NHS staff (whether because of being desperate for a vaccine or because they're Covid Deniers or anti vaxxers) should be arrested and charged - and there should be harsher penalties for those found guilty.

Unfortunately there would need to be more police funding for that to be able to happen.

It's a knock on effect. Government is allowing violent crime to spiral. Gang warfare - stabbings, shootings, almost daily. It desensitises people...and then the attitude of tolerance towards aggression extends to other areas of society.

How sad is that, yes make the choice for yourself but to target a bus is pathetic, absolutely pathetic. I hope those affected managed to still get to their vaccines.

Btw, the majority of people are in bed by midnight. Even on a Saturday night. Particularly the day before the first major final for England's men's football in 55 years. You can't judge lack of replies if the thread is started late at night. And right now lots of people are busy watching the tennis (myself included).

MercyBooth · 11/07/2021 17:33

Yes thats why absolutely no other threads were being replied to after that time.

The fact is NHS staff are being abused by ppl who want their vaccines early so they can jet off as well as being attacked by the anti vaxxers. BOTH groups are behaving in an unacceptable appalling way. But im guessing the whataboutery is because of people not wanting to face the consequences of the two tier society
they were calling for.

Well with respect @MercyBooth you never replied to my response to one of your posts on another thread last night. I don't think the @ pasted across though so maybe you didn't see it.
Ironically that was also about both sides displaying cognitive dissonance.

Well IMO anyway

Arsebucket
Oh please….. everyone I know who had had the vaccine did so because they thought they wouldn’t be able to go to the pub or on holiday without it. Most didn’t want to have it and only took it as they were horrified they might not be able to go on holiday this year without it.

Whereas everyone I know who has had it did so because a] they didn't want to catch the disease and b] they didn't want to give it to anyone else and if being vaccinated made that less likely, then good.

Maybe that's because they tend to be over fifty (apart from my children in their thirties, and their friends, who have had it for the same reasons as us oldies) as Wellbythebloodyhell suggests.

I don't think I know anyone who would abuse any NHS worker or vaccine volunteer because they couldn't get what they wanted the moment they wanted it, and if I did and found out, I wouldn't know them afterwards. That's a completely horrible way to behave.

Ah, I’m not that young either.

These are mainly people late 40s/50s and over and in laws in their 70s. None were every worried about covid, just wanted social moves back, PIL missing their 3 cruises a year. Different people think different aqua though I guess.

Although i will say that people tend to be more honest with me about their reasons when they find out I’m not having the vaccine.
