Has anyone caught covid off a close contact perhaps a friend, in work or school and have had to isolate and caught covid? What is the average incubation time? Obviously I know that you have to isolate for 10 days regardless.

One of my dc had close contact with a member of staff at their school who has since tested positive. They had contact around the Friday last week 8 days ago and back to school in a few days.

Hoping he's missed it. My child likely had very pretty close contact with said person! Do you think it's unlikely Ds missed it?

I haven't got him tested! He's quite young and has sen. Tests are distressing for him. I feel that a negative test doesn't mean that they haven't actually caught but it could be just too soon - keeping a close eye on symptoms instead. The school are aware I'm not testing him unless he gets symptoms after they advised all kids got tested.

What's the likelihood of catching it on the tail end? Had some important things going on later in the week! Worried DS will get poorly 😒

So he had contact 8 days ago and therefore if he was required to isolate, his isolation would finish in 2 days anyway, so no real point in testing him unless he has symptoms.

I had Covid. Tested on Monday and it was positive. Was with my sister Saturday and Sunday and she tested positive on Wednesday. So 3-4 days.

Are you worried about your son getting ill, rather than when isolation ends?

If so, I think the average time is 4-5 days after exposure for symptoms to appear, but it can be up to 14 days. That's why Australia has a 14 day quarantine.

Yeah you isolate for 10 days and if no symptoms by then you should be fine . In regards to getting ill probably quite low .

I know far too many people who have caught it on the tail end, it’s worrying!

Very likely, outside the home close contacts like this are under 10% in the most recent stats.
