Is it risky to delay return to UK to 19 July when quarantine ends?

I'm in an amber list country for a family funeral and due to return to England this Sunday. I was planning to pay for the day 5 early release test, the result of which I would expect to receiev by 18 July.

If there's no quarantine requirement from 4am on Monday 19 July, I'm tempted to change my booking and return then as I can work from here. However, I've been reading comments saying the government may well backtrack before then and I'm wondering whether this could be risky. Work will want me back in the office soon, so I don't want to risk booking for the 19th and then finding myself still having to quarantine.

Are you resident in the UK?
If not, yesterday's announcement says you still have to quarantine.

Ah, sorry, I can see you are! As you were !
I don't think at such short notice they'll change their minds again, but you never know with this lot!

I'd do it and let work know your decision, so if there is a late change they will be aware before you have to give the bad news. Can you work remotely?

@Etaina I yake it you're doubly vaccinated? I think toud probably be OK. I would imagine the only reason rhey would back track now would be if theres suddenly an epsilon or gamma variant or something that complwtely ebades vaccination.

Thanks for all your replies. Yes, I'm double jabbed and can work remotely, but work want me back in the office as soon as possible.
