Can someone explain schools in sept?

So does anyone know what happens

If teacher sick can a supply teacher cover 2 classes or bubbles?
If a child tests postive surely they have self isolate for 10 days or if double vaxxed teacher gets covid i assume they get 10days sick pay and isolate.
If a parent or sibling gets covid does the whole household self isolate like now or do we just isolate the 1 postive child?

I'm assuming working parents get no pay when their child is off with covid so families be worse off.
I'm guessing fines will still be in place.

If there's multiple cases in a year group or class can local public health send everyone home or shut down a school of cases got out of control?

Can schools or council choose disregard these daft changes and keep to status quo?

Whys the unions not kicking off i really don't get it!
If child best freind gets postive are we still expected send them in even though there's possibility they incubating the virus.

It's bugger all use talking about it now. The guidance will change 277378 times before the start of term.

SonnetForSpring · 07/07/2021 21:28

I agree. I think its difficult to know what will happen in sept.

OnTheBrink1 · 07/07/2021 21:35

It could be total freedom, total lockdown or anything inbetween! No point in guessing now

Thanks guys just wondering if us parents or school be any better off.
If schools are short staffed as significant number staff are off sick with covid or long covid.

Or that will parents be any better off of whole house isolates if 1 postive in house hold.
That if you have multiple kids who all get covid at different times.
That each time the parent has isolate either they have covid, their spouse has covid or thier children is lost income or so.
I know pre covid we took time off if kids were ill but the loosening restrictions makes them more likely be ill and need to self isolate therefore making working families worse off.
Not sure how many working parents work in the NHS my guess a fair few.
I wonder how many teachers will just quit ir retire then there will be chronic shortage of teachers.

I think the only certain thing is if you yourself test positive (child or adult) then you can't be in school - so still isolation of positive cases. Just like you can't go to school with chickenpox, norovirus or measles.

In terms of staffing, if schools have insufficient staff (and can't get enough supply in) then children would have to be sent home. You have to have enough staff to ensure safety for the children. So if large numbers of staff were sick at the same time it could cause issues.

Thanks thats just what I thought has be safe levels of staffing.. Supply teachers i think more expensive.

Some parents are overjoyed bubble are going.
That their whole classes won't be isolating.
That their child doesn't have wear masks in senior school or they don't have to wear masks in playground.

They no considered

School's may shut because short staffed.
Their child may get quite poorly.
Their child may pass it on and despite fully vaxxed lots people say they feels really rough..
Their school maybe short on money as paying Supply and any mitigating measures out their own school budget.
That self isolating payments will probably go.
That there probably won't be xmas dosco or nativity I can't see autumn winter being normal.
That if they or their child is ill then access gp tricky as it is and a and e may close or have excessive wait times.

I think your post assumes that measures like masks in playgrounds and bubbles have been successful in reducing the numbers of children who have caught covid. Antibody testing shows that at least 25% of children have had it - probably more now. And that’s during a period where schools have been closed for a lot of the time. That to me suggests that mitigation measures in schools have not had much affect.

And it seems unlikely that large numbers of double vaccinated teachers are going to be so sick with covid that they miss loads of school. Most of them won’t even have symptoms.

Children have missed so much school due to isolating when bubbles pop and this is likely to dwarf missed school days due to actually having covid or staff shortages.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 07/07/2021 23:06

People will simply stop testing! Children will be kept home with all other sort of ailments but covid

TheTallOakTrees · 08/07/2021 12:04

Currently I understand that there will be no bubbles, no masks and no need to isolate if close contact with someone positive provided your test is negative.

However, things are constantly changing so it's months away. Enjoy the long summer break.
