Bringing pfizer vaccine forward- Scotland

Hi,

I am having to travel at the end of the month- my second vaccine is booked in for 3 weeks time- just over 8 weeks.

I’ve been wondering if a drop in clinic would give me it this week? I’ll be nearly 6weeks post first. This would mean I’m fully vaccinated for travelling and won’t have to reschedule vaccine for after travel.

I’ve tried online to reschedule but I’m guessing it’s programmed to only show bookings available after 8 weeks, as that’s all I can find!

Has anyone managed this? I’m in greater Glasgow health board.

Have you used the online portal to see if you can reschedule earlier? Not sure if it will let you do it that far in advance right enough but worth a try maybe?

Thanks, I did try but it says no appointments until the exact date of 8 weeks after first vaccine. I’m guessing that they’ve programmed it that way.
I suppose I can go along and ask. Vaccination rates have dipped a lot so I’m hoping they might be keen to give it out vaccines..although I’m wondering how much discretion is actually applied, especially in Scotland .

Don’t bother faffing with that. Get yourself on Reddit ‘get jabbed.’ I got my second Pfizer at 3.5 weeks this morning thanks to tipoffs from there. I’m not in Scotland, but I’m sure you’ll find stuff. You may need to travel.

I know someone who walked into her vacc centre, forth valley. Got jabbed there & then. It was AZ though. She was also travelling & wanted done before she went. All health boards in Scotland have walk in centres now I believe.

Thanks for that. I’ve had a look and it seems great for England, not looking so great for Scotland..I knew Nicky would make it harder..will still give it a go!

Do you know how far post vaccine she was? It seems Scotland is being stricter:.which is crazy considering our abysmal record as worst covid rates in Europe atm.

Not exactly but possible 5 or 6 weeks after her first. She should have been 2nd jabbed end of July but she got done about 10 days ago. I could email her but I know she's travelling right now.

You could try asking the vaccination Helpline people.

Ive read that’s a bit pointless- they read from script. I think I’ll have to hope for someone who is willing to do it at a centre..pot luck it seems.

I went to a drop in at the Hydro 8 weeks after my Astra Zeneca. Publicly they were saying you had to be 10 weeks post 1 st jab. But they gave it to me early no problem.Just go in and ask . They can only say no

rozzyraspberry · 06/07/2021 17:11

I got my second jab 6 weeks after my first in Scotland. AZ and was at the end of a weekend drop in clinic and they had some left over.

akajwnd · 06/07/2021 17:29

I got mine done 5 weeks after the first at a walk in. Not in Scotland though.
