So last night i had a notification on my Covid app telling me to isolate for a few days which i will certainly be doing.

However, i wonder if getting a test would speed up the process. I have a VERY hyper one year old and it's going to be tough not being able to take him out.

I have a covid 19 rapid allergen self-test. Would this help shorten isolation time? I know the app asks for a code for if you test negative. Will i get a code like this from this test? I can't think how.

Has anyone had to deal with this? Advice?
Stay safe everyone!

What to do?

You still have to do the full isolation regardless of a negative test. You could develop Coronavirus at any point in the isolation period.

A test would be a good idea though to find out if you are currently positive but asymptomatic. I think pcr tests are now recommended for all people who have been close contacts anyway.

DD wanted a PCR as she was worried sick she'd passed it on unknowingly and wanted to let people know if they were a potential risk to others. She still had to isolate for the full time.

Thanks! Who exactly counts as a close contact? I normally go on trips with my husband but he didn't get this message.

Literally the only other opportunities i would have to contact anyone outside of that is work or taking my son for a walk. I work as a courier so i'm not actually not in close proximity to anyone (all traveling).

Could i get a message like this from passing someone on the street or public transport? Bit of a mystery!

Most people are now ignoring/deleting the app. It's not accurate and not legally enforceable. If you've been contacted by test and trace that's a different matter but the app I'd take with a pinch of salt. People have been pinged because their phones have been near to neighbours through walls and all sorts. Test daily if you want pics of mind

The app works off Bluetooth so you could of picked up anyone's tbh.
A lot are deleting the app now.
Track and trace is different.

MaryShelley1818 · 06/07/2021 16:14

We both deleted the app. Extremely inaccurate and a lot of employees ask you to turn off the tracing part.

Katie517 · 06/07/2021 17:49

Delete the app if you had really been a “close contact” you would know about from the person you had been into contact with. The app works on bluetooth and it isn’t a legal requirement to isolate from it if you get pinged, maybe do a LF test to be sure but please delete and don’t subject yourself to 10 days of being indoors with a hyperactive 1 year old (spoken as the mum of a very hyper and active 10 month old who loves being out and about!)
