Vaccine after having COVID

Does anyone know the reason for having to wait 28 days after having COVID before you can have the vaccine?
My DS was 18 yesterday and has just had COVID, he is desperate to get the vaccine but I cannot find anything online that states what the medical reason is for this.
Is there a medical reason or is it because there is no need as you will have immunity anyway?
Hopefully someone might have the answer.

I have Covid19 right now. My second vaccine was scheduled for this week. Have now cancelled and rebooked for 28 days time. I think it's to give your body a chance to recover from Covid19 and so you don't confuse your Covid19 symptoms with your vaccine side effects. That's how it was explained to me when I went to cancel and rebook my second dose. I also believe it may be due to giving your body a chance to fully recover before being 'under attack' again.

I'm hoping someone scientifically competent comes along to explain this better, but I think the gist is that your immune system immediately post-infection is already going to be full of antibodies. You aren't going to gain anything from the vaccine. I'm not sure how natural immunity (which I think wanes after 3-6 months) compares with vaccine antibodies (which I hope to fuck give us more protection than that) but I guess your body won't react to the vaccine the same way when you're still full of fresh post-infection antibodies?

If you think of a vaccine as basically a training course for your immune system on how to recognise and respond to covid with the second dose as a refresher course. If you've just had covid then your body is up-to-date on how to fight it and you will get most benefit from the vaccine by having it later as it will help remind your immune system how to fight it.

In some countries (I think France) if you've had a natural infection you only need 1 vaccine dose as they are treating it as if that is the booster. I'm considering my second dose to be like an extra booster as I've had covid and then my first vaccine already.
