Didn’t realise chronic fatigue was so prevalent in children in normal times. Are children still being diagnosed with chronic fatigue since coronavirus or is it all under the umbrella of Long Covid now? If so are the numbers of children suffering much higher than this now?

I don’t know a single child with Long covid for whom chronic fatigue is a stand alone symptom

Low platelets, massive nose bleeds, heart beat irregularities, deafness, diabetes, lung damage. Reduced lung capacity, short term or long term memory loss

Any one of these might cause fatigue.

But your question makes no sense. Why would any of these children be classed as having chronic fatigue? They are classed as having various medical problems that might also cause fatigue

I had glandular fever at a young age and ended up with chronic fatigue for many years.

It’s nothing new, but because more people have had Covid, there’s more children with it.

It’s not stopped me doing anything, I even competed in my sport for my country in my teens.

@0None0 how many children do you know with long COVID? The teen I know with this diagnosis has fatigue as her main symptom and no systemic issues.

I had chronic fatigue after I caught flu during my early teens. It went on for several years and messed up my GCSEs.

I just wonder if it’s been too easy to give the diagnosis of long COVID to conditions that are were relatively common pre covid. I remember having a period of time during my teens when I had to go to the sick bay at school to rest at lunch break following some virus. There was no big deal made and after a few weeks I was fine.

Long covid is completely different.
Pretty much none of the adults are complaining about tiredness.
Mainly brain fog affecting daily life
Sleep issues
High heart rates
Muscle twitches
Numbness
Heart issues
Lung issues
Digestive issues

Yes it's likely some people have something else undiagnosed. The others all got suddenly ill this year.

My dc have both started having nose bleeds. Eldest now says throat hurts when running. Another girl has new digestive issues. (Also maybe unrelated a boy with new tics and another with sound sensitivity).

I think the major issue which you are putting the other way round is - there is no treatment for any of this. People might recover or not. The absolute last thing this country needs is the kids to be even more unfit!!
And they dont even know for sure the cause of these issues. What is the point in lc clinics for kids if there is no treatment - it's exactly like the giant covid centres.
