DD doesn't want to go to college to avoid self isolating

DD has had 3 periods of 10 days isolating due to close contact at college. Cases are on the rise again with lots of people isolating and she is absolutely terrified that she will have to self isolate again and I kind of agree with her. Would it be possible to tell the college that she would rather study for home than risk the first two weeks of her holidays isolating?

Depends on the college.

My daughter finished 10 days isolation. And then only had 3 days in and has finished for summer.

But during the year, most of their classes were done so they could choose to be at home or in college.

I know my dds would be fine with it. But I am not sure all would.

She has been through so much, now has a part time job which she loves and plans for the summer which she has looked forward to all year. I get her frustration that all this stuff could be missed just by being present at college.

Yeah it's really rubbish. My dd and her best friend had their 16th birthdays, towards the end of lockdown last year. And then both had to isolate this year and cancel their plans.

I felt devastated for her.

I don't see how anyone will know apart from the college itself

Of course you can tell them but no ocean tell you the outcome

I don't suppose she's the only one thinking like that.

So many isolating already that many classes are half full anyway and work is also made available online. It's like isolation roulette every day she goes in.

Pretty sure lots of people will be doing this. I’d guess the college may be expecting attendance to drop about 10days before the end of term. It won’t be the first time.

Aren't they finished? I work at a college and rhe only students still in are the ones in for functional skills re-sits and those finishing files off.

We'd not be able to provide online lessons as all staff are on other end of year tasks

SilverGlitterBaubles · 30/06/2021 20:27

No they are finishing on the 16th of July.

Just tell her not to go in.
