Immunity

Is there any data on what immunity having had covid gives you? I know you can get it again.
DD9 had it in May so I’m wondering. I had it after 2 xAZ- I must have antibodies?
Just hoping to have a fun summer with no worries!

There is data out there...supposedly if you have had Covid AND a vaccine you are pretty well covered however sadly I have still heard of people catching it again even with those things so who knows.

Recent article linked there on the subject, they think infection PLUS vaccine equals 'hybrid' immunity which should in theory be really very strong. Immunity after one infection seems a lot lower overall sadly.

My kids also had it last year but I am pretty sure it will come to us again at some point.

The Govt/NHS antibody (for infection) test result message says something like

"Negative...[so] it is unlikely you had covid in the last 6 months"

Though there will be exceptions. I'm guessing after 6 months, on average for most people, is the point at which infection antibodies are not found anymore.

Cherubb · 30/06/2021 16:49

@flexmeadow i think you are right, they drop off a lot about 3-6 months. I tested at 6 months and had no antibodies but did have T cells. I have just had my first vaccine a fortnight ago and will have another antibody test next week.

See my thread about so-called 'hybrid' immunity, i.e. you have had Covid and also had the vaccine. It's very good news for immunity. I probably could have given it a less cryptic title!

I think we’ll see that t-cells will be important in long term immunity (rather than just antibodies which may wane). T-cells from SARS have lasted for at least 15 years ( because that’s how long ago the infection occurred, could be longer).

It’s great news for the whole country if those with a previous infection and then are double jabbed have a really strong immune response.

Any info on double jabbed and then infection? I now
Know loads of double jabbed people who have had a cold and it was a Covid positive cold IYSWIM.

I had covid in March 2020 with positive ab test (work for NHS) in June 2020. Just did another ab test through gov.uk website last week and still have ab from infection. Have had two vaccinations but the test is looking for infection ab. Pleased to still have them 15 months after infection
