Nursery- children shouldn't attend if they have any symptoms of new delta variant( described as hayfever symptoms, feeling warm, headache, runny nose or sore throat)

They need a pcr. Surely they can't demand a PCR when the government doesn't?!? Also want chn to stay at home with these symptoms even with negative PCR.

Ds has had countless tests now- Given that medical staff are saying winter virus season has been delayed for young ones, I guess I can expect to pay through the nose for him to not attend and piss my boss off too. Brilliant.

You have to SI until the end 10 days since the contact with the confirmed case.

They're asking for an additional PCR test because you can sequence the virus from positives of that type of test and it's important right now to understand more about the transmission of Delta

I don't disagree, that sounds very frustrating.

Just on the other side of the coin...
I have two little ones call in sick this morning with coughs, both have a Dr appt via video. One Dr says it's croup and she's fine to return to childcare. No PCR needed. Parent asks for a face to face as she really wants her chest listened to but told no as she has a cough and they aren't seeing anyone with coughs.

So the child will return to me tomorrow. (Apparently!) The hypocrisy of a Dr refusing to see a patient with a cough but insisting childcare are safe to have her back is blowing my mind.

No contact with a positive case?!? They have no cases.

They are being cautious apparently and think it's best ill chn stay at home to avoid spreading germs. A runny nose or hayfever symptoms / feeling warm means most chn will be out ffs.

@Shapesorted surely you don't have to accept without a PCR? Mine had croup according to gp but nursery still insisted on pcr when he returned with a slight cough still and he'd been seen in person at a walk in due to wheezing.....

Yes we go to the walk in as gp just prescribes antibiotics without seeing them it's rubbish isn't it.

Bloody hell! My kids would never go to nursery with those restrictions. That's ridiculous!

Topseyt · 28/06/2021 14:25

I think the whole thing is just becoming ludicrous now. A total pantomime.

It needs to stop, but when.

If my children had had to be at home every time they had any of those symptoms then they would hardly ever have gone to school, preschool or nursery when they were that age.

The one thing I have been thankful for throughout the whole pandemic has been no longer having school aged children.

Sadly though, it has still put a dampener on DD3's first year of university.
