No temperature but runny nose and mild cough

Would this be enough to need to do a PCR?

No loss of taste or smell, no temperature, but runny nose, cough, mildly sore throat and fuzzy head

Been doing LFT but they obviously aren’t suited for these things anyway

Sounds like you have a good old fashion cold
but if you want a PCR just say you have one of the symptoms.

Thatswatshesaid · 28/06/2021 08:20

Yes you need to have PCR test if you have a cough.

UmbilicusProfundus · 28/06/2021 08:20

You mention a cough…

Scarby9 · 28/06/2021 08:21

Yes. Cough = PCR test.

ineedaholidaynow · 28/06/2021 08:23

She has one of the symptoms, a cough! Delta variant can present like a cold

MurdockTheMouse · 28/06/2021 08:43

A cough doesn’t necessarily warrant a PCR. The guidance states clearly it’s a new continuous cough. If it was me I’d probably test but once you do you’re legally required to isolate until the results come back.

DontDoThatGeorge · 28/06/2021 08:45

Of course do a PCR. You have classic symptoms.

Neolara · 28/06/2021 08:52

The Delta variant presents completely differently to the new variant, especially if you've had the vaccine. Your symptoms are exactly the most common symptoms of Delta if you've had 2 vaccines. Do a PCR test.

Our local council have advised my dcs primary school that any child with any symptom, so not all together must be pcr tested. The symptoms listed include a runny nose, any cough, tummy ache. Not great if you suffer from hayfever. 6 children from dcs class were sent home on Friday because they had displayed one of these symptoms, all were negative.

Good old fashioned cold, or a nice new coronavirus. Symptoms are the same so the only way to tell is by testing.

If your mild cough is happening more than 3 times a day then you qualify for a PCR test.

A continuous cough doesn't mean constant or really, really bad - it just means a cough that persists eg coughing a lot for an hour, or three bouts of coughing in a day. Mild coughs can be continuous. Pretty much any cough that isn't clearing your throat or breathing in some dust qualifies.
ImbarbaraB · 28/06/2021 09:09

Not a cough then . It’s just a bit flemy occasionally

Given the varied symptoms people report with Covid . Definitely test (PCR)

OP does have one of the symptoms Confused

covidcloser · 28/06/2021 09:15

Oh cross posted. OP doesn't have a cough now

JayDot500 · 28/06/2021 09:17

My child has a cold too. I felt it was a 'classic' cold but there's no way to be sure without testing. He's negative but I'm keeping him home today anyway. A whole year at his school is isolating because a child came in with minor symptoms but was positive. It's risky.

ImbarbaraB · 28/06/2021 09:18

I think I’m better off just getting a pcr. Nothing showing up on LFT (I’ve done 3) but they obviously aren’t meant to be for use with symptoms anyway

wasthataburp · 28/06/2021 09:21

She doesn't have a cough she is saying further down. So she had no symptoms. Why bother taking a test with no symptoms?

What a laughably stupid council
Scaredycatmoo76 · 28/06/2021 09:22

I wouldn’t bother op, I really wouldn’t.

Scaredycatmoo76 · 28/06/2021 09:23

I suspect with these exceptionally mild symptoms, you’ll wake up tomorrow and feel absolutely fine.

You basically have the sniffles!

ineedaholidaynow · 28/06/2021 09:25

@Scaredycatmoo76 are you a doctor or a soothsayer?

I tested positive a week ago and my first symptoms were a very bad headache, followed by a runny nose and scratchy throat.
I soon deteriorated and had every symptom going and spent the week in bed!

MurdockTheMouse · 28/06/2021 09:37

@zoeydollie A new, continuous cough means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours. So it’s not really pretty much any cough or there would be no need for the word continuous.
