Covid while pregnant

Hi! I'm just over 23 weeks pregnant and have had positive lateral flow tests as well as aches and a fever. Now just waiting on PCR results.
Just wondering if anyone has any reassuring stories about having it whilst pregnant and chasing a lovely toddler?
Exhausted doesn't cover it!

Admittedly I was only 10 weeks(ish) when both DH and I had covid, it wasn’t the best time but DD3 could be distracted mostly with lots of telly, playdoh and drawing, basically any activity that we could set up and then mostly abandon her to 🤦‍♀️ I can’t even remember what we fed her for two weeks! We were all fine and came through with no serious complications. I’m now 33 weeks with a straightforward pregnancy. Best of luck, it will feel never ending and awful but it will be over soon 😊

Notawonderfultime · 27/06/2021 21:07

Good to know everything went straightforward afterwards!
Although with how rough I felt at 10 weeks I really feel for you it must have been absolutely horrible. ❤
Definitely made me feel better about it thank you. 🙂

I had covid at 26 weeks with two little ones. Slept a lot, was quite achy and had awful migraines. I bought an oxygen monitor as I was really worried I’d have to go in to hospital if it went too low. Had lots of extra scans after to keep an eye on the baby. He’s a big cubby thing sleeping on me now and I recovered well. Have you had your whooping cough vaccine? I found it brought all my covid symptoms back. Hope you stay well and your toddler watches a lot of tv and let’s you rest x

Had my whooping cough vaccine a couple weeks ago. Already have growth scans booked in as well so that'll probably help put my mind at ease 🙂 feeling really rough but DS loves cartoons. Been trying to reduce his screen time but think he'll get away with a bit extra for the week given the circumstances 😂 annoyed I've avoided it this long only to catch it now!

God yes, I was completely drained by covid, tv was my absolute saviour for DD 😂 We also gave her loads of random stuff to play with that kept her busy for ages - sheets of tin foil went down well to ‘wrap’ things in!

Blueballinthegarden · 28/06/2021 20:12

@Tiredandtesting How are you feeling today?

Tiredandtesting · 28/06/2021 21:02

Cartoons have been a godsend honestly 😂 feeling really rough today. Been a few tears, hot and cold and a little out of breath when I walk up and down the stairs. Taking it as easy as possible. Hoping this is as bad as it gets!

Yes! Had Covid in November at 32 weeks. DH also had it. Our DD was 2 years and 4 months at the time. It was exhausting. Baby was fine though! Smile

Tiredandtesting · 28/06/2021 21:11

@Covidwoes that's really reassuring. So many people like to tell horror stories about something they heard from someone who heard from someone who read somewhere bla bla bla. Definitely feels better to hear positive stories from people who have been there themselves. So glad the pregnancies and babies here are healthy and happy 🙂

@Tiredandtesting the hardest thing for me was the Covid exhaustion combined with being in the 3rd trimester! So tiring! Throw a toddler into the mix as well, and DH having Covid at the same time...well...😂. We were very grateful neither of us were seriously ill though. I had fewer problems in my third trimester during my Covid pregnancy than I did with pre-pandemic DD1! My DD2 (now 5 months) is doing really well. If anything I'm hoping she maybe gained some antibodies from me having Covid.

Just keep on plodding through in survival mode, most things can wait and hopefully you’ll be over the worst of it soon! To add another positive story - I do have a friend who had covid in the third trimester who has since had a very healthy baby after a healthy pregnancy.

I had it around 20 weeks pregnant and with a 20 month old plus my 11yo who also had it although she wasn't as ill as me. The exhaustion was by far the worst and I struggled to eat as everything tasted foul. I survived mostly on jelly babies and orange lucozade for the worst week of it. Dd, who was a fantastic sleeper before, ended up sleeping in my bed with me with cartoons on as I had no energy and there was no routine, and I've never fully got her back out of the habit - she still crawls in at 3am most nights!

It was fine though, never came near needing hospital, just felt like shit for 2 weeks and bone achingly tired for probably another 2 weeks after that. My sense of smell and taste came back just before I gave birth, perfect timing for me to be allowed to drink wine again!

Get loads of takeaways or easy food dropped off, loads of TV, don't even think about housework just pure survival mode until you feel better. Its shit but you will be fine.

@Tiredandtesting hopefully you’re through the worst of it now, how have you been?
