PCR positives & past infection

I'm a bit out of the loop as don't have kids at school & am not planning to go abroad.

Are close contacts in schools having to get PCR tests even with no symptoms? And surge testing is for anyone in that area? How does anyone know that they are actual positives rather than remnants of a previous symptomless infection (given that's quite likely with children)?

And what about the Fit to Fly tests? What if someone caught covid 3 months ago but wasn't tested for whatever reason (no symptoms or household member tested positive, say) and it's now picked up? What a nightmare that would be!

Aren't we at risk of being caught up in a circle of positives that aren't really such? I'm not a conspiracy theorist, btw, and that's not the angle from which I'm coming.

Nope

Stop reading conspiracy theories - they're bad for your health

With the testing, some people were being told that they had the Indian variant, so would then presume it would be recent and not 3 months ago.

I agree with everything else. Foreign travel can get very complicated at the moment, but I don’t think it will put people off booking.

I'm not reading conspiracy theories. It was just something that occurred to me when I was reading something on here about how many times some school bubbles had burst.

One of our bubbles has burst, as our child is a close contact they got a PCR test today (no symptoms), they still have to do 10 days self-isolation, if their test is negative as there are many asymptomatic cases in children, whole house will need to self-isolate to reduce community exposure. If PCR is negative then just X1 child needs to continue to isolate.

The PCR tests for Covid on that day. Not previous infection.

Even if after a negative PCR they start to show symptoms we have to test again.

And this procedure can go on for different bubbles time and time again.

Sorry if their test is positive whole house needs to isolate and we all get tested.
