What do we think ? 😂 Crackers ? Be most unfortunate if their immune system was a bit shady 😬

@FrankensteinIsTheMonster

I like to give my immune system the tools it needs to do its job to the best of its ability. Saying you trust your immune system and declining a safe, effective vaccine is like saying you trust your security guards and declining to provide them with pictures of known criminals they're likely to come across.
Excellent analogy!
Cushionsnotpillows · 26/06/2021 13:42

@HumunaHey because they told her

WeirdArchitecture · 26/06/2021 16:55

people still use Facebook?

Rosesareyellow · 26/06/2021 17:23

They really grind my gears. It's like the facebook equivalent of standing outside your house at 8pm banging a pan with a wooden spoon and looking smug.

Oh god that feels like so long ago now but it’s not - my SIL would post videos of herself and family doing this every Thursday and I’m having cringeworthy flash backs now. What were people thinking? (We awkwardly but supportively clapped in our door way the first week and left it at that...)

ConcernedAuntie · 26/06/2021 17:42
@Lostinacloud completely agree with you! And am a firm believer that your health is hugely dependent on what you eat and how much you move! We seem to have forgotten the basics of health especially when it comes to covid! I find all Facebook frames unbearable but the I’ve had my vaccine ones really grind my gears! Good for you but it’s still a personal choice and the virtue signaling throughout covid has been vomit inducing!
I have posted this before but my best friend's sister was a very hippy, natural remedies, trust your immune system because you eat fruit and veg and play outside sort of person. She refused all vaccines for her daughter who then went on to contract measles which left her profoundly deaf. The daughter no longer speaks to her mother because she cannot believe her mother didn't protect her by getting the vaccine.

Lostinacloud · 26/06/2021 17:49

But measles is a very different beast and of much more risk to most people’s immune system than a coronavirus. I’m not suggesting your immune system can handle everything and doesn’t need medial assistance. Not sure where that conclusion has been drawn from? I’m merely suggesting that this particular virus can be handled quite successfully!

Poorlykitten · 26/06/2021 18:54

Is Measles really much more of a risk? Do you have stats on that or just a guess? Most people who get measles recover very quickly and experience mild symptoms from what I can gather, as most people are saying is the case for C19. Yes, can be complications but quite rare,

CDC says about 30% of measles cases in US since 1987 have one or more complications (mainly in children under 5 and in adults). Death rate is about 1 per 1000 cases.
Lostinacloud · 26/06/2021 18:59

I’ve no idea what the risk of measles is to the average healthy human and I don’t need to bother finding you stats poorlykitten! We’re discussing the risk of covid.

Lostinacloud · 26/06/2021 19:01

But there you go, someone has kindly provided the measles stats and confirmed it’s riskier in relative terms than covid, particularly to the under 5’s.

MirandaMarple · 26/06/2021 19:02

My friend changed his profile picture to 'I've had some paracetamol'

I'm glad I checked - because the discrepancy between PP's impression that complications are rare, and the actual ovcurance being around 1/3 is worth noting.

And SSPE is a rare but absolutely foul fatal complication, only ever seen in those with the wild virus (no cases whatsoever from vaccine strain)

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 26/06/2021 19:13

Despite knowing my immune system is massively boosted thanks to all the vaccines I've had, I'm also unlucky enough to be someone who's immune system is trying to kill them. So no, I don't trust mine at all!

PotassiumChloride · 26/06/2021 19:16

Cringeworthy attention-seeking bollocks, like all Facebook frames. I assume if they trust their immune system that they never take medication for anything ever.

SpnBaby1967 · 26/06/2021 19:33

I cringe when I see those frames.

Mine says, I had my dinner! Thanks Asda

Poorlykitten · 26/06/2021 19:49

I’m not in the US.

hanka · 26/06/2021 19:59

Had to give mine a good bollocking - it keeps attacking my own hair, the bastard! Definitely broken, can’t trust it as far as I can see....🤷🏻‍♀️

practicallyperfectwithprosecco · 26/06/2021 20:27

I don't trust my immune system at all - it quite selfishly refuses to produce antibodies so my body thinks it's allergic to everything and I get recurrent ear / nose / throat and chest infections. Oh and I'm a high risk for covid and the vaccine might not fully work.

Unfortunately, I appear to be stuck with it as unlike untrustworthy politians it won't leave me.

LoudNowSing · 26/06/2021 20:57

Those frames remind me of that old joke about the guy praying to God to win the lottery and God replying, "Meet me halfway, buy a bloody ticket!"

I trust my immune system a lot more now I've been jabbed.

Whenigrowupiwanttobea · 26/06/2021 20:59

My immune system is called Lucifer. It decided at age 9 to wake up a dormant gene and cause havoc with migraines and mouth ulcers. It gets bored and attacks me for the hell of it or because the day happens to end in a y!!!

justwanttodanceagain · 26/06/2021 21:01

I had measles as a kid - loved it! All I got was spots - felt perfect and I got a week off school out of it. Clearly it's not a dangerous disease at all.

Yesterday I crossed a road and it caused me no issues whatsoever! I really don't understand why we bother with regulations - speed limits etc - clearly roads are completely safe.

Wherediditgo · 27/06/2021 08:24

@PrinnyPree

I don't do facebook frames but the "I've had my vaccine" ones are actually helping reduce the stigma of vaccines and the UK is actually having quite a good take up even by people who initially were skeptical of the vaccination programme. Smile
Stigma of vaccines?? If anything, the stigma is against people who don’t want to have the vaccine!! FWIW - I’ve had mine. Not that it is anybody’s business. I just don’t believe anyone gets to have an opinion on what someone else chooses.
Sunshinegirl82 · 27/06/2021 09:37

When I was younger I looked after a little boy who had caught measles whilst he was too young to have the MMR, he was left with very severe brain damage as a result (severe learning difficulties, blind, deaf).

Measles is ridiculously infectious (has an R0 of about 15) and can be really nasty. In less developed countries with poorer access to medical care it kills approximately 10% of those who contract it, mostly children under 5.

I hope that covid shines a light on these sorts of statistics, we have had an effective measles vaccine for over 50 years, we shouldn't still be losing hundreds of thousands of children worldwide to measles every year.

StillCalmX · 27/06/2021 09:38

@Waxonwaxoff0

Cringe. No more cringe than the "I've had my vaccination" frames though, they're all stupid.
Absolute agree.

I had a vaccination but I'm keeping quiet about it. I'm not proud of it.
