If you've had covid AFTER being vaccinated..

How were you? What were your symptoms?

Had you had 1 or 2 vaccines? And how long before were you jabbed?

As lockdown and measures are removed I am anticipating an increase of cases and wondered what the reality of covid is after being vaccinated?

Surely hospital admissions tell you that?

Musicaltheatremum · 24/06/2021 12:20

My work colleague got covid from her son a few weeks ago. She was fully vaccinated with Pfizer having had them in December and march. She had a snuffly nose that was all. If she hadn't have been doing LFTs she would never have known and would have come back to work with it. Her husband who had one vaccine didn't get it.

WhereDidIGoNext · 24/06/2021 12:21

I have a friend who has covid after being double vaccinated. It was like a really bad cold

summersun20 · 24/06/2021 12:42

@ssd not really..

You can still be extremely poorly and not attend hospital. I am speaking from experience many years ago when I had the flu. It was seriously awful and struggled moving/ breathing but I never attended the hospital. In fact, I never even called a doctor so records wouldn't have shown I was even ill.

@Musicaltheatremum that's really interesting.

A friend of mine has a member of her household who has tested positive, they have shared cars together, had multiple close conversations etc and thankfully friend never got it, friend has been double vaccinated with pfizer!

Not me, but a colleague who I've just spoken to. Double vaccinated with AZ (second vax was about 5 weeks ago). Feels very rough, breathless, lots of coughing, feverish, lost taste. Is hoping this might be the worst of it, as is on day 5. Young - he's 29 (I don't know why he was already vaccinated but think maybe asthma?). He got it from flatmate (also one of our colleagues) who had been single vaccinated. She felt very unwell for about six days but is now recovering well. Also young (32).

summersun20 · 24/06/2021 13:11

@everybodysang this is what I was worrying about, of course its great news that the hospital rates have reduced but pretty grim if a wide number of the population are still getting very poorly even after being vaccinated. On the other hand, I know many who are asymptomatic or have minor symptoms, it's a hard one to judge.

everybodysang · 24/06/2021 13:17

Yes I was a bit surprised at how unwell they both were as they're both young and healthy (on face value - like I said, one colleague is double vaxxed so assume there's a health reason for that). But hopefully that will be the worst of it for them and they'll recover well. It did shock me slightly as I'd assumed because he'd had both jabs, even though he was positive he'd be fine. But I suppose, in the circumstances, without those jabs he'd be really, really unwell. So you could say it's good news, in a way?

SecretKeeper1 · 24/06/2021 14:14

Not me but a friend who was double vaxxed with Pfizer ended up in hospital with delta last month. She was in two nights and on oxygen (but not a ventilator) and is better now but still wiped out, possible long covid. The doctors did tell her she was a rarity!

AliceLivesHere · 24/06/2021 18:48

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33301246/

Pub results that show "A two-dose regimen of BNT162b2 conferred 95% protection against Covid-19 in persons 16 years of age or older. Safety over a median of 2 months was similar to that of other viral vaccines. (Funded by BioNTech and Pfizer; ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT04368728.)." So in the vast majority of cases the vaccine offer 95% protection.

Perhaps why locally the cases are in school age children and young people or unvaccinated in the vast majority.

Or: www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jun/17/covid-cases-in-england-doubling-every-11-days-as-delta-takes-hold

"Covid-19 cases are rising exponentially across England driven by younger and mostly unvaccinated age groups, according to scientists."

"Stephen Riley, a professor of infectious disease dynamics at Imperial and one of the study’s authors, said: “Prevalence is increasing exponentially and it is being driven by younger ages. It appears to be doubling every 11 days."

“And in the younger group, under the age of 65, where a much smaller proportion have been vaccinated or double vaccinated, most infections are occurring in the unvaccinated group. Well this proves that vaccines work.

dh works with someone who was told to isolate by the app, double AZ. She then lost her taste and tested positive. This sent dh and other people at work in to isolation, they work very closely. She didn't pass it on to anybody else.

Autumnchill · 24/06/2021 19:08

I had first jab April and next one due next weekend. I tested positive the other week but don't know a single person with it and husband (2 jabs) is negative and same with friend who I car share with.

I got a sore throat and thought it was hayfever so took meds and it cleared up. I've had worse head colds!

Imnothereforthedrama · 24/06/2021 19:15

Tested positive after first vaccine was mild but still felt very floored I’d describe it as . Also like a bad head cold , out of breath and loss of smell . Dh also had it but symptoms different just like a cold ( had 1 vaccine) . I also know someone else who’s caught it recently also had 1 vaccine had like a cold/ headache but then felt worse for a couple of days stayed in bed and gradually felt better.

Tyrasanchez30 · 24/06/2021 19:18

I've tested positive after 1 jab of Astra zeneca, had quite a bad barking cough for a few days but getting better, and I have no sense of smell. I'm 30

cervixuser · 24/06/2021 19:21

my friend is young - 20's -double vaxed with pfizer because she works in a hospital - she tested positive a few days ago and her only symptoms are similar to hayfever

TreaslakeandBack · 24/06/2021 19:23

2 AZ in Jan and March, positive in May.
It was like a bad cold. Sneezing, runny nose, slight temp, then cough and lost smell for a few days.
Very mild and recovered quickly.

ConnectedToSandsview · 24/06/2021 19:24

Both jabs, second one 6 weeks ago.

Currently laid up in bed, nose streaming, throat like I’ve swallowed a cactus, every little part of me aches. Can’t go to the toilet without having diarrhea. Vomiting randomly. Ears permanently popped and throbbing. Gasping for breath going upstairs.

I still have my sense of taste and smell though. I had one night in absolute puddles of sweat too.

Vodkabulary · 24/06/2021 19:25

My best friend is a nurser she has covid in November and was quite ill (young early 30s no health problems) then got it again after 1 jab wasn’t as ill but still felt floored for a few days and took a while to recover.

She is now double jabbed but tested positive for after that. She said it wasn’t too bad just like a heavy cold

BergamotandLime · 24/06/2021 19:27

Someone I know, double vaccinated (don't know which one) spent a day with someone who was symptomatic but had had a negative LFT but tested positive on PCR next day. They didn't get symptoms and had negative PCR.

cupcakecourageous · 24/06/2021 19:32

I've had 1 dose (11 weeks ago) and have covid - I am quite unwell, I'd say it's hit me pretty hard. But I am nowhere near needing medical intervention or hospitalisation (yet)

My DH is the same we got our vaccine on the same day, and he has also tested positive. He's unwell, but not quite as bad as me.

ChocolateRiver · 24/06/2021 21:10

A work colleague has just tested positive for Covid. She was double vaccinated with AZ. It was picked up through mass PCR testing at work. She has no symptoms whatsoever. Her LFT was negative.

CrappyBirthday2Me · 25/06/2021 00:26

My brother had Covid after one dose of Pfizer. He felt really poorly for 2 weeks but wasn't in any danger and managed at home. He's a doctor so it's possible the viral load was higher.

OnWhatPlanet · 25/06/2021 01:04

A extended family member, CEV and double vaxxed and more like a heavy cold.

A 30 year healthy friend, two days of cold like symptoms and five days in bed so far very very poorly.

I've had other family members test positive after one jab and they've also said it's more like a really bad cold and sore throat.

Lex345 · 25/06/2021 05:45

I have had a bit of strange experience with COVID overall. I was working as a nurse until March this year. 99% sure myself and husband had COVID in March 20 before mass testing was available and was quite ill. Had repeated contact with COVID between then and the vaccine rollout including working on a COVID designated unit and never had a positive test. Had the AZ dose 1 and tested positive about 3 weeks later on PCR but LFT was negative. A subsequent PCR the next day was negative. Never developed symptoms. (I think the first was a false positive). Last month my youngest had COVID, postive LFT confirmed by PCR. Was probably delta variant as in surge area for it and he had the classic headache symptom that seems to be associated with delta. The rest of us tested negative on PCR and on LFT throughout. I have had my second AZ since then.
