Fogging machines in schools

DS’s primary just mentioned they’re using a fogging machine each evening. Is this commonplace now? Or just certain areas/ schools?

What is in the ‘fogging’? Ask them the name of the substance.

helpfulperson · 23/06/2021 22:52

Yes we use them. It's just the same cleaning chemical we've always used but delivered in a light mist. It is in addition to cleaning, not instead of.

Thanks @helpfulperson. They’ve had 3 year groups isolate in the past 3 weeks (one twice). I didn’t know if this was routine or if they were treating it as an outbreak.

They use it where I work if there have been positive cases and they go and ‘fog’ wherever that person has been.

Don't know about schools, but one of our bus companies has been using them all along

Wow, that school must have an impressive budget reserve. Our PTA have been paying for paper towels and hand sanitiser since Christmas, thanks to a lack of funds. I dread to think what we’d do if PHE told us we needed to defog every night.

Our fab soft play has a fogger. When we’ve been getting shoes etc on, out comes the fogger to clean between sessions! I don’t worry about covid but it does make me feel better about the cleanliness of softplay in general! I ain’t got time for any illness & my kids do not sleep when they get colds 🙈

School I've been working at fogs the sensory integration room between students. Not sure how effective the fogging machine is (same stuff the cleaning staff use but an extra mist of it) as by this point in the year it's more duct tape than fogging machine remaining.

My husband bought a fogging machine for his company last year. The chemical lasts for 30 days on surfaces to kills germs and viruses.

I know they use it on public transport in London.

The one he has is very expensive.

Cleaning is still completed but this is extra protection

motherrunner · 24/06/2021 12:48

No fogging here. Only enough money for sanitiser and wipes.
