Has anyone been vaccinated less than 8 weeks apart?

I received a message from my GP asking me to book my second jab. First available appointment is tomorrow and I grabbed it without thinking. Now realise it’s only 6 weeks post my 1st jab and wondering if they will turn me away (even though they’ve messaged me 6 weeks following my first vaccine and offered that appointment)…? Thanks for any insight!

I had mine 3.5 weeks apart and no problems. From memory 3 or 4 weeks was the original recommended timescale but it was stretched out to 12 weeks to increase coverage of the population.

4 weeks apart here for us, that's Pfizer and moderna

Keepgoing88 · 23/06/2021 18:43

I will be getting my second dose this weekend … 6.5 weeks between doses, I had to ask for this tho

RumHoney · 23/06/2021 19:00

Yes - at a walk in clinic where they were doing anyone with more than a 4 week gap.

filka · 23/06/2021 19:02

Living abroad, had Sinovac one month apart

Popskipiekin · 23/06/2021 19:22

Ok great, good to hear your experiences. This is for Pfizer. I’m not on a priority list so really didn’t expect 2nd dose so soon. Hope they go ahead with it!

I think Pfizer themselves expected it to be given with a three week gap - and said they weren’t sure how effective it would be with the longer gap anyway.

allgoodthings84 · 23/06/2021 22:02

I had my second Pfizer exactly 4 weeks after my first

squiglet111 · 23/06/2021 22:48

Had my second today after 5 weeks. Went to a walk in

Egghead68 · 23/06/2021 22:51

Yes four weeks

Sgtmajormummy · 23/06/2021 22:59

Pfizer 35 days apart. I have my second jab tomorrow and my European Green Pass will be available to download 4 hours later.
Italy.

Moderna and AZ included different gaps between doses in their Ph III clinical trial. 3 weeks is the standard minimum gap for many vaccines but Moderna was shown to work at all gaps examined and AZ had abetter response with a wider gap. Pfizer only looked at 3 weeks in their clinical trial and so couldn't recommend a longer dosing gap however the technology is similar to Modernas so it was thought by the JCVI that a longer gap would be fine (and the real life data so far supports that).

mummabubs · 23/06/2021 23:07

Pfizer, 7 weeks apart whilst pregnant. No issues for me 😊

FelicityBeedle · 23/06/2021 23:20

Where are you all hearing about the walk-in centres? I’ve moved up my booking but hoping to be double vaccinated before booking shifts at the hospital again

MojoJojo71 · 23/06/2021 23:28

My DS just had his second at a walk in clinic and it’s only been 4 weeks since his first. I’m delighted as the Pfizer vaccine was tested with a 3 week interval so hopefully he’ll have a good response.

cherin · 24/06/2021 07:44

Have a look at the online page of your council and it’s social media pages, the council around me in London are all quite accurate and not only give opening times for each centre, but also say which vaccine is available (so if you need to go to a second dose AZ you can walk in…to the right stadium ;-)

ItsSnowJokes · 24/06/2021 07:46

3 weeks here.

Follow your local council's social media pages - twitter, facebook and Instagram. Also check their website.

Just to say, got my second jab yesterday no problem whatsoever. Very happy now!

Spain - 3 weeks apart for the Pfizer and 24 hours later my EU Vaccination certificate.

pigglepot · 25/06/2021 06:20

I had my Pfizer with a 3 week gap. I'm pregnant so wanted to get my second dose ASAP and the doctor agreed so I was able to book it sooner. It just happened that the only slots at my local centre were exactly three weeks. No adverse affects apart from being more tired the next day than I was after my first.

Watapalava · 25/06/2021 07:01

i had AZ 5 week gap

MikeWozniaksMohawk · 25/06/2021 07:03

@RumHoney

Yes - at a walk in clinic where they were doing anyone with more than a 4 week gap.
Same here.
nika1988 · 25/06/2021 07:07

My council page specifically says second doses in walk-ins are available for those 8-12 weeks after the first one. Are they still doing those who are less than 8 weeks?

JelenaTWs · 26/06/2021 14:29

Hi, where was that? Thanks
