Could this be a clot? He is very pigheaded so won’t listen to me, go to the doctor or even check..I’ll ask again to have a look but might not be allowed as he knows better/best

Any visual clues I should be aware of?

I don't think these clots are associated with the vaccine. However a friend of mine had groin pain afterwards. Best to get checked

Namechanged4thi5 · 22/06/2021 08:15

@PandemicPalava which clots do you mean? Are you saying he has something like DVT?

I would ring the GP on his behalf to explain and I expect they'll say he should get checked, perhaps he will then listen?

FrankiesKnuckle · 22/06/2021 08:19

Unexplained pain, swelling, hot to touch or very cold, discolouration of skin. Later, potentially shortness of breath, increased respiratory rate, tachycardia.

Namenic · 22/06/2021 08:20

Go and get it assessed. They will ask about symptoms, measure it and possibly do a blood test to help decide. If it was a blood clot, the danger is that it might travel to the lungs, so if there is any breathing problems go to a&e right away or call ambulance (otherwise, you can contact GP).

PinkPlantCase · 22/06/2021 08:22

Rashes/patchy skin on legs can also be a sign of blood clots.

Thank you all..will have another chat when he returns after school run

This is precisely why I delayed my first dose until had both…don’t want both to end up in hospital/drop dead at the same time..

Last week someone asking about a headache was told "A&E now!!!" (In typically shouty MN way) so I imagine you'll soon be told the same.
Probably best for him to be checked.

PandemicPalava · 22/06/2021 09:06

@Namechanged4thi5 the clots linked to the vaccine are most likely cerebral or gut based, not like DVT

PandemicPalava · 22/06/2021 09:07

Sorry, I didn't mean I thought he had a clot, just that if he did it's unlikely to be vaccine related because if it's position.

Namechanged4thi5 · 22/06/2021 09:08

@PandemicPalava understood, thank you

I had stiff calves for a few days after the AZ vaccine, if that's any help. I am still here! I took some ibuprofen.

notapizzaeater · 22/06/2021 09:33

My son had awful leg cramps after AZ - I queried with GP whether to have 2nd jab and he told me it's a common listed side effect. The 'clot' issue is in the head not legs.

Cocogreen · 22/06/2021 09:53

I've had one dose of AZ. I was told to look out for leg pain, stomach pain, fever and persistent headache that paracetamol doesn't help. Also that clots can happen between days 4 - 20.
I think he should get his leg checked out.

youshouldbeplotting · 22/06/2021 09:57

From the AZ leaflet:

If you experience any of the following from around 4 days after vaccination you should seek medical advice urgently:

a severe headache that is not relieved with simple painkillers or is getting worse or feels worse when you lie down or bend over
an unusual headache that may be accompanied by blurred vision, confusion, difficulty with speech, weakness, drowsiness or seizures (fits)
rash that looks like small bruises or bleeding under the skin beyond the injection site
shortness of breath, chest pain, leg swelling or persistent abdominal (tummy) pain.
Namechanged4thi5 · 22/06/2021 10:29

@youshouldbeplotting thank you- was googling for this. I’ll share this with him.

It’s more than 4 days, it’s about 7 days today
