Using tube into Central London with baby

Interested in peoples opinions would you currently travel into London outside rush hour to meet a friend for coffee with your 1 year old baby in tow? I’m fully vaccinated. Baby isn’t (obviously) but is breast fed so will be getting my antibodies? DH thinks it’s a crazy idea. I’m on the fence.

Yes, I would.
Have a lovely time.

PotteringAlong · 21/06/2021 18:07

Yes. I would keep them in a sling for ease of travel, but yes I would.

Lockheart · 21/06/2021 18:13

Hundreds of thousands of people in London use the tube daily.

You'll be fine.

Honey12346 · 21/06/2021 18:21

I have never stopped taking public transport op, that includes tube, trains and coaches, due to being in a long distance relationship. Everything has been fine and I haven't gotten sick (I assume that's what you're worried about). Just live your life.

It saddens me that the media and govt have created such a state of fear and anxiety that people feel the need the ask for advice about whether to take public transport or not.

Katie517 · 21/06/2021 18:26

Why wouldn’t you? I have a baby who has been coming everywhere with me throughout I wouldn’t think twice about taking them on public transport. We are going on a plane hopefully in August and I wouldn’t even think about not doing it.

Thanks I’m going to show DH this thread :)

Of course, but consider a sling unless you are familiar or will research buggy friendly stations and you are meeting by one as much of the tube can be a real pain with a pram

nordica · 21/06/2021 18:33

It's pretty quiet outside rush hour! I had a whole row of seats to myself for some of my journey around 11:30am today. Smile If the first train is busy I often wait for the second (if it's just a couple of minutes gap) and the second is often much emptier. I tend to sit at the end of a row of seats or stand near the doors so I'm not right in the middle of everyone but that's just my personal preference at the moment (have had my first vaccine but not the second yet).

hollygoflightly · 21/06/2021 18:35

It's great at the moment, trains and tubes are much quieter than usual! Sling is best if you have a decent one. Enjoy yourself!

Baileysforchristmas · 21/06/2021 18:37

I go every Sunday, it’s the best time to visit London at the moment, except when the Scottish fans are there 😉

helpmebeanadult · 21/06/2021 20:52

Yep.

PotassiumChloride · 21/06/2021 21:28

Yes, I would. Without hesitation.

Wilkolampshade · 21/06/2021 21:57

100% yes.stick to outside rush hour, sanitise. Enjoy.
I've been using the tube throughout to get to my voluntary work, and as far as ai know not had covid and I'm about 110.

Comedycook · 21/06/2021 21:57

Yes

HelloDulling · 21/06/2021 21:59

Yes. If your DH is worried, leave the baby with him. And go to Liberty after the coffee date.

User574664 · 22/06/2021 08:44

Go for it ...use a sling though it’s a nightmare taking a buggy. Gets really hot on there ( you probably already know that but I forgot so dress baby lightly ) in rush hour I couldn’t get a seat and it was rammed so avoid that ! X

Agreed. People have lost all perspective on this matter.
