I'm toying with getting my second jab in a pop-up clinic, but am a bit nervous about getting it done there, and would really like to hear some experiences to hopefully put my mind at rest.
Are there always plenty of NHS staff around, as well as volunteers?
Worst case scenario, I wouldn't be too far from the nearest A&E, so I'm trying to persuade myself it doesn't matter if a random volunteer vaccinates me rather than a nurse in hospital. I mean, it's just basic first aid until an ambulance arrives, and many of the volunteer vaccinators I assume would be existing St John's volunteers, so pretty good at knowing how to keep an airway open.
(Not being totally precious - I have a medical history that means I've been advised to get both jabs done at a hospital site - but I'm under pressure to come back into the workplace before my eight-week jab has kicked in. I've seen people around here can get their second jab as early as 4 weeks after their first at a walk in. I'm weighing up the benefit of getting my jab sooner in a pop up than getting it later at hospital. You can only book with an eight-week gap via the NHS website, but depending on the pop up, you can walk in for a vaccine earlier than that. Pfizer say a three-week window is fine, so I'm trying to wrangle somewhere between three and eight.)
I'm just rambling now. Any comforting words?
