Restrictions in NW

When will the additional local restrictions in the NW be reviewed? When will we be able to leave the local area (other than urgent)?

I thought it was clearly explained it was guidance and only guidance so you are free to travel about.

ColettesEarrings · 20/06/2021 07:40

You already can. The NW is under the same legal restrictions as the rest of England. If you are choosing to follow the more cautious guidance that's a nice thing to do, but you can legally do anything the rest of the country can do.

Oligodoodle · 20/06/2021 07:54

Yes, it’s guidance not law. But we’ve vulnerable family living at a distance, and friends in low case areas, all of whom are following guidance so for us it makes a big difference to our lives!

Are your vulnerable family vaccinated?

palindromeam · 20/06/2021 08:03

My father is fully vaccinated but he has had chemo before and since his vaccination.

I live in a town with particularly high rates and emergency measures jn place. Though I could go and see my parents I won't until cases start to fall again.

I would go and see other fully vaccinated people out of area. But the chemo is likely to have made the vaccine less effective.

I have two school age children.

ZNation · 20/06/2021 08:03

If anything when they are reviewed I can see harsher restrictions for NW and not relaxing. This is a repeat of last year for NW where we will be in different restrictions forever than the rest of the country

hamstersarse · 20/06/2021 08:36

I find it hard to understand your position tbh

Your dad is clearly unwell and being treated for cancer, you are all vaccinated.

Just do a test and go and see them! Life is too short

Oligodoodle · 20/06/2021 09:06

Yes, vulnerable family members are double vaccinated. But been told, due to the nature of their condition, it’s likely to not have been as effective. Their condition is serious but not life-limiting. They are following all guidance.
I was hoping to see them over the summer while the weather is warmer (they won’t meet indoors). I hope you are wrong Znation. When is the review?

So frustrating. Why is it that NW always seems to have higher rates than everywhere else?

Ozberry · 20/06/2021 11:17

Can you do tests? Isolate for a couple of days, test and visit

if they are still vulnerable then surely whether you can "leave" the NW is irrelevant. If you don't want to put them at risk then don't go and see them yet unless I'm misunderstanding something.

I fear the same, we have been under local restrictions apart from 6 weeks in July/August last year. Things are not showing signs of getting any better sadly.
