When will I feel better

Heathrug · 19/06/2021 20:53

Very mild symptoms started Friday last week.
Bed ridden by Monday. Positive test on Monday. Since then gradually feeling worse and worse. Today was the worst day of my life.

I feel like I’m dying. Every part of my body aches and still have a fever. No breathing issues. My lungs hurt so badly however.

How long I feel like giving up.

I'm a few days behind you so I can't say when you will get better - it's awful isn't it? I don't have a fever but the headache is horrific and my lungs hurt so much, I've slept around 20 hours out of 24

Heathrug · 19/06/2021 21:04

I have two young children so sleeping when I can but not as much as I’d like. It really is so bad. Have you had your vaccine? I was due my first one next week. So sad I missed out and have to endure this pain.

I've taken advantage of the fact the dp wasn't working today and tried to sleep.
I've had 1 vaccine dose, I caught it off teen dd who caught it from a friend, she was worryingly ill for around 7 days sleeping around the clock and then just woke up feeling much better one morning- she has a cough still but looks and feels brighter now so there's hope!

AlandAnna · 19/06/2021 21:14

Oh dear Sad
I don’t know but a friend was in bed for 9 days.
Hopefully you are nearly there and will feel better soon. Hang in there!

Northernsoullover · 19/06/2021 23:12

I met up with friends recently who both had covid at the same time. They said they felt awful for ten days. My partner felt awful for ten days. I appreciate this is a very small sample size but it's not unusual to feel rough for so long. Hopefully you will turn a corner tomorrow.

anothernamereally · 19/06/2021 23:30

I'm coping by throwing stuff at every issue @Heathrug : so eyewash for itchy eyes, vickes rub for chest, radox muscle salts for muscle aches, paracetamol and cold flannel for headache etc, anything to feel more comfortable- I haven't been able to venture outside today but I sat in the garden yesterday evening and the cool air did help my chest a bit. Hope you feel more positive tomorrow Thanks

Lostinacloud · 19/06/2021 23:32

If you can manage to get ivermectin prescribed it apparently works almost instantly to resolve symptoms.

Stealhsquirrelnutkin · 20/06/2021 00:27

I would be very unwilling to give Ivermectin to humans, having seen it kill several sheepdogs and a whippet during my time in veterinary practice. It is harmless so long as it does not pass the blood brain barrier, but some breeds of dog, and possibly some humans have genetic variations that allow it to enter the brain, which results in paralysis and an unpleasant death.
People are already very anxious and afraid because well tested and approved vaccines have caused a few blood clots when administered to millions of people. We should all be very wary of recommending an untested treatment that has the potential to cripple and kill swathes of people.

Mindymomo · 20/06/2021 10:26

If you are still feeling bad, make a call to 111 or GP tomorrow, they can prescribe some steroids for your lungs and maybe a course of antibiotics. Please don’t suffer anymore than you need, there are treatments to help you get through.

BarbarianMum · 20/06/2021 12:28

Second week is generally worse than the first. Keep an eye on your blood o2, drink plenty and use paracetamol/ibuprofen for pain or fever. By day 14 you should start improving but then it'll probably be another couple of weeks before your energy levels are back to normal, longer if you rush your recovery so don't .

MrsLCSofLichfield · 20/06/2021 15:14

My illness was at its worst from days 8-12. Slowly started to turn the corner from day 13 but still felt a little too warm and exhausted with heart palpitations at times until the end of 3 weeks. As others have said, rest and drink plenty, get yourself a pulse oximeter if you don't already have one, and don't overdo it even when you start to feel better as it may set you back. Flowers

Heathrug · 20/06/2021 15:58

Thanks. I had another fever during the night and pain was awful. Woke this morning and feel like I may have turned a corner. Day 9/10 I think. I’m taking it very very easy but at least the pain is gone. I took a lateral flow test and the line is very very faint now. I’m hoping it’s a good sign.

How are you today @Heathrug ? I thought I was on the mend yesterday but feel awful again today

Heathrug · 21/06/2021 21:24

I’m the same. Felt like I was getting over it then all of a sudden massive fever and sore aching body. I can’t take it much longer I’m in so much pain.

Bobholll · 21/06/2021 21:38

Can you get some stronger painkillers OP? Some doc prescribed co-codemol? No need to suffer on in pain, I’m sure they’ll be able to help you over the phone! Fevers are miserable but it is a sign your body is fighting off the germs at least!

HSHorror · 21/06/2021 21:40

Some stronger painkillers affect breathing i think

anothernamereally · 21/06/2021 21:58

I have diarrhoea now too to add to the mix and dh boss is insisting he go into the office now that his isolation period is over, he can easily continue to wfh, I suspect he won't mind going in though as it's easier than looking after the kids. It's like everyone feels I should be better now.
Op what painkillers are you taking? I do hope you have a better night

nowayjose2 · 21/06/2021 22:06

take some high dose vitamin d, vit c, zinc, magnesium, NAC

Heathrug · 22/06/2021 08:11

Thanks I have ordered the vitamins.

I phoned in sick today. I’ve been trying to power on, working from my bed but I just can’t do it any longer. I had two days off last week.

My OH is fully recovered now, he’s about 3-4 days ahead of me infection wise and he’s telling me it’s “all mental”. It definitely is not I’m really struggling.

This morning I feel weak and sweating lots but the pain is gone and fever.

I’m experiencing extreme nausea and unable to walk without dizziness. I can’t stomach food and just need to lie in a dark room. I tried to call the dr but no appointments. I called the chemist but they couldn’t offer me anything - only peptobismal for some reason. I’ve ordered a pulse oximetry from Amazon it should come tomorrow.

Well, can only give my own experience and get it was horrible for a good few days. Around a week after it started I was feeling better, but then lost my sense of smell for a few weeks, which felt really annoying but also was worried it might go for good! Hope you're better soon!

optimistic40 · 22/06/2021 18:32

My boyfriend didn't seem to have it as badly as I did, but went on to have the brain fog of long Covid since (we had it starting in the Christmas hols). He now has phases of feeling normal but only for a day or two at a time.

2boysand1princess · 22/06/2021 19:43

Hope you get well soon OP. Flowers
Quick question, if you tested positive last Monday then surely you have still stay in isolation, so why did you need to call into work sick today?

anothernamereally · 22/06/2021 23:44

Maybe op is wfh

Op I hope you're turning a corner now - I still feel quite ill but I am improving a little each day - keep on at your gp if you are not

Heathrug · 23/06/2021 10:08

Yes I work from home in a role where I could work from bed but I can’t even face it. I’m having coughing fits now it’s relentless.
