Walk-in clinic for second dose

Our council has advertised a walk-in clinic for first and second doses of Pfizer this weekend.

But there's no guidance on how long past first vaccine you need to be to get your second at the clinic.

Has anyone come across this? Did they stipulate a minimum gap?

8 weeks

@strangeshapedpotato

8 weeks
That's just broad national guidance though for over 40s to fit people in...

This is for anyone to have a second jab.. I'm presuming it should be 3+ weeks for efficacy purposes..

If it doesn't specify and you're more than 3 weeks past your first dose I'd go along OP. Nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that.

Mindymomo · 17/06/2021 16:29

Minimum gap of 3 weeks.

Ours says if you had first dose before mid April.

No - it's the current UK vaccine policy.

I had a four week gap between 1st and 2nd Pfizer. I agree with pp. if you're more than three weeks past first dose, I would go.

CloudySunshine · 17/06/2021 16:52

I was invited by my health centre this week to get my second Pfizer vaccine today - it's been just under 4 weeks since my first one.
I suspect therefore it's the 3 week minimum wait.

Yes, but different CCGs are operating differently, as evident by PPs' experiences...

Thanks all, I agree that as they haven't specified, they'll likely do anyone who turns up with a minimum 3-week gap.

From the advert, I think they just want as many people done as possible.

My local hub are now saying you can get your second jab as a drop-in if you are over 40 and it's 8 weeks plus since the first AZ dose.

I am going to try my luck tomorrow as I had to cancel my GP-organised slot last week and couldn't get an earlier one than 29th June.

The one at Chelsea Football Club specifies it has to be at least 4 weeks (and they are doing Pfizer). I don't know where the 4-week recommendation has come from, or if all pop ups have different rules on gaps.

With the Delta variant, it's the 2nd vaccine that ensures the highest level of protection, one dose really doesn't seem to be that effective. Hence why second doses are being brought forward. With Pfizer, the manufacturer's recommendation is a 21-day gap between doses and personally, I think it was wise to follow that protocol.
