GPS giving different advice to gouvernment....

Has anyone else experienced this?
Gouvermenr advise is obviously any symptom any age test and isolate.

Well my 12 month old had. A temp of 40 the other week and it lasted a few days but despite a few visits to the go I was told to not test him if all adults in the house were LF testing with a negative result as it's too difficult to test babies.

I took my 4 ye old for a test today which was by far the worst and most traumatic experience of my life as he was beyond distressed, the assistant at the test place and the GP who I spoke to later both said that they wouldn't expect children to be tested if the adults get negative LF tests at home because it's so traumatic for children. So just test adults and keep them at home whilst they have symptoms.

It makes more sense to me, and I'm happy with the advice but it seems so different to what's being drilled into our brains by Boris and gang. I've complied with everything but I will not be taking my 4 year old again. He struggles a lot with doctors dentists etc and he was absolutely distraught. I am happy that GPS seem to be recognising this and coming up with a solution.

My 4 year old is also extremely distressed by the tests. People who say ‘oh it’s not that bad’ can go to hell. Imagine if your child is literally hyperventilating in fear, mine even throws up. I don’t know why she is so scared but she is. It’s completely irrational but she’s 4. Great for you that your child happily complies. Mine has severe, hysterical anxiety about it. And yes it’s awful people have died, two members of my family did. But I can hardly tell my 4 year old this is much better than dying can I! Or much better than you killing your granny 🙄

I make my own call OP. This week my DD has been under the weather & a hacking cough. I did go through the hell of testing. More minor, not persistent coughs I don’t and we carry on. We’ve not had any fevers so far thankfully!

If you're not going to test your kids with symptoms, then isolate for 10 days.
GPs and test centres should not be giving this advice, especially whilst medically vulnerable children have not been vaccinated

Im all for mitigation measures but I strongly dislike physically forcing small dc to do this test, it's awfully reading about under 5 especially on here being forced and having trauma to the nose, nose bleeds, being physically restrained.

This is an invasive test. You could do damage to a struggling child shoving this up their nose. It's not right.. I'm all for masks, schools etc... But unless your dc doesn't mind.. I wouldn't do it

Gps tell you all sorts of rubbish.

Best.to go in and no really trust their answers ive had
You are ovulating -10 min argument about how my temps etc didnt seem to agree then -oops read the report wrong no you arent
Your dc is fine after checking ears and heart - child had ear infection and then heart murmur
You dont have asthma -erm.....!!
You dont have hypothyroidism (too thin).

You know.what the rules are. It doesnt say test - except under x age does it. Though i do.agree impossible with some kids. What i would say is - its not the worst that could happen to.them. And in fact some experience with medical stuff can prepare them.for having other things done.

The q is what happens if.they dont vax kids because all the testing considering how often kids will be ill without restrictions both covid and non covid ....

Unbelievable. Without a test they should be isolating for 10 days. I'd much rather your 4 year old didn't pass covid to my 4 year old, you seen the way your child reacted to a 5 minute test, a virus like covid will put my child through a lot worse.
I would actually report this GP if i knew who they were and to be honest I'm not sure I would be able to trust their judgement on my child's health either, will they just pick and choose which guidelines to follow in other areas of their work as well?
