DD has tested positive - will track & trace phone me?

My DD has tested positive for corona. Rest of the family are negative. We all tested at the same time. DD doesn’t have a phone so doesn’t have the app. Will track and trace phone me about her? What will they ask me? I have severe anxiety and i get really flustered on the phone.

When she booked the test who’s contact number did she use? That is who they will call.
She will also be sent an email if she provided an email address when the test was booked to fill out the test & trace information- if you have that you can complete her information online.

If they do call you they will ask who she’s been in contact with 2 days before symptoms started, whether she’s been to work or school etc
Then any activities that she has done shopping, eating out etc.
Maybe sit down and write a list so you have it to hand so you are not so flustered if they call. Is your daughter with you? If so you can pass your phone to her.

Thank you so much. She’s 9. Should I let her speak to them? It’s my number and email address on the form. There’s nothing on the email about filling in track and trace forms.

They’ll probably want to talk to you, if she’s 9. They’ll ask where she’s been - school, any play dates, shopping; out for meals, etc. Jotting it down now might help with phone jitters!

Don’t worry though. They’re usually nice people.

GAW19 · 15/06/2021 10:29

Even if she had her own phone they wouldn't talk to her, they would talk to you.
All they'll do is ask where she's been and if you could let people know who she has been in contact with.
When you test positive it has nothing to do with the app, they'll do it all over the phone. They may ring a few times to see if you's need any help whilst isolating.
I kept receiving calls for me and my daughter on my phone.
It's nothing scary, they just check you're okay

ChristmasCovid · 15/06/2021 10:50

Sorry wasn’t sure how old she is. If she’s 9 they’ll definitely talk to you.
As others have said it’s nothing scary. - they’ll take the names of all household contacts - details of where she’s been etc.
Have a think and write it down so you have the information to hand.
Don’t worry, it’s bit strange that you’ve not had the email link, maybe they don’t do that for children.

Findahouse21 · 15/06/2021 10:53

They asked me

  • who lives in house - names and dobs
  • school details - name and town
  • any visitors to the house - names, dobs, addresses and phone numbers
  • anywhere we had visited in the last 10 days including parks etc

Thank you, this thread was very useful. I spoke to them, I managed not to get flustered cos I had the information ready.

Aww brilliant glad you’re sorted! Hope your daughter is ok.

ineedaholidaynow · 15/06/2021 16:37

Well done! Hope your DD is okay and self isolation isn't too bad.I assume school has been informed

@Findahouse21

They asked me * who lives in house - names and dobs * school details - name and town * any visitors to the house - names, dobs, addresses and phone numbers * anywhere we had visited in the last 10 days including parks etc
The last 10 days?! I thought it was two days before you got symptoms? Is giving out other people's contact details compulsory?
ChristmasCovid · 19/06/2021 23:51

It is 2 days before symptoms where they ask for contact details.
They then go back 10 days looking at where ‘you’ might have caught COVID, places, activities etc. The contact details of individuals are not asked for during this period.
It is not compulsory to give contact information, but the people you have been in contact with may be at risk themselves or risk passing Covid on to an individual that is vulnerable.
