I’m worried - double jabbed but do I have it?

Had a throat like broken glass for the past 24h and sheer fatigue. This is exactly like when I (suspected) I had covid in March 2020.

I’ve had both AZ jabs but my second was just under 3 weeks ago so is there a chance it isn’t effective yet?

I’ve been living life pretty normally this last week (not the past 24h when I’ve been at home) and now feel pretty foolish.

Will get DH to pick up some rapid tests I guess?

Has anyone else recently tested positive after being jabbed?

Chance of having it twice is very small. Chance of having it after both jabs- very small (around 0.2%?).

So I'd say highly unlikely - you just have a cold like an awful lot of people do right now

Yeah you need pcr not lft.
We're waiting on some pcr results for my uncle (also double jabbed)

Youngatheart00 · 12/06/2021 08:39

Thanks - I am aware I’m coming across as very anxious so thank you for being kind. I’m not generally anxious but when I feel unwell I do tend to enter a bit of a doom loop.

Logically perhaps other viruses (like colds) are now running rampant as social distancing and lockdowns have suppressed them?

If you’ve got symptoms you need to book a PCR test, not the rapid tests.

Youngatheart00 · 12/06/2021 08:47

Right - PCR ordered

Immunity takes 2 weeks after the second jab. It’s not like the first one.

NotBot · 12/06/2021 09:28

Well, even if you do, no need to feel foolish or worry. Do you feel foolish or worried when you get a cold or a stomach bug? Infections happen, you’ll be OK. We absoloutely should be living as normally as we can at this point, there’s lots to enjoy now, You’ve got both jabs & I assume aren’t peak vulnerable you’ve only recently had both jabs?

If it helps, for the last week I’ve had a horrible cough, sore chest, knackered. I took a PCR, negative. Rang my doc, they told me to do another one a couple days later, negative. Rang them again as it really hurts to breathe. Told to get another one before they’d see me, negative. They finally agreed to see me yesterday evening.. I have a chest infection 🙄 not everything is covid..

Kittyhelp · 12/06/2021 09:42

I work in a primary school. The kids have been dropping with sore throats and a temperature. All tested, all negative. I generally don't suffer with sore throats, caught the cold and it went straight to my chest (asthmatic) so then I had a cough. Negative for covid. There is a nasty cold doing the rounds at the moment, highly likely that's what you have!

2 doses of AZ are 60% effective against the Indian variant at 2 weeks post vaccination. It may increase further after more weeks post dose but we don't have the data on this yet. I would get a pcr test. www.pulsetoday.co.uk/news/clinical-areas/immunology-and-vaccines/az-and-pfizer-vaccines-highly-effective-against-indian-covid-variant-says-phe/

Hope all those suffering with similar feel better soon!

It is a strange mindset these days, we tend to think ‘covid or I’m fine’ - need to keep in mind other illnesses are still circulating.

I’ll do a lateral flow test as realised we have some, but I’ve also ordered a PCR, more for reassurance. Hoping a quiet day, ibuprofen and lots of fluids helps me.

Early symptoms for delta variant are more like a cold. Info now coming out. Leader of Zoe project says “ The number one symptom now is headache, followed by sore throat, runny nose and fever ”

Even if you have both vaccines doses, you can still catch Covid and spread it to other people. It doesn't make you immune, it just stops you being as ill. thought this was general knowledge.

Frazzled2207 · 12/06/2021 12:25

I don't think you're daft to order tests but I don't think you have it.
Hopefully you'll get reassurance soon. If you went to a test centre you'd get a result more quickly though, possibly tonight.

DanceToTheMusicInMyHead · 12/06/2021 12:27

I tested positive 10 days after my second AZ jab, and I thought I had it in March 2020. Positive LF confirmed by PCR. It feels exactly like a cold- mild headache and earache and stuffy, runny nose, with loss of smell and taste a few days later. And very very tired! So totally possible!

The vaccines decrease transmission by about 75% so although it's possible to catch covid and transmit it post vaccine it's much less likely.

Just updating - test came back as negative and I’m feeling much better too ☺️
